LWIN LEE | MARUTAMA RAMEN @ AVENUE K
After savoring some interesting local fusion at ‘Tiff
& Co’s hued’ cafe at Wondermama X, up next we headed to Marutama Ramen,
which is located few floors up from this Japanese restaurants.
It’s been quite a norm nowadays, seeing ramen shops
mushrooming day by day, and hence, indirectly raising the bars for the similar
cuisine, where I personally have hankering for comfort food that is freshly
made inhouse such as the Epicuro, Udon Ya San, Salad Atelier, Café OLLE, TheSalad Bar, Wa Café, just to name a few.
AJITSUKE TAMAGO RAMEN (MYR 22.50)
It’s a bowl of ramen served
in chicken soup with a slice of roast pork, seaweed, spring onion and seasoned
egg. Soup tasted quite flavourful, lighter tone than the usual tonkatsu broth. Would
be better if the amount of fatty layer on the soup surface is removed.
The sliced pork was tender
and juicy, and you get to choose to have your ramen in between spicy or non
–spicy flavor broth. Personally, I don’t think they distinguished much as the
spicy level between the soups was rather vague, with more peppery taste
apparently tasted in the spicy choice.
But the ajitsuke tamago might need some rework i suppose.
As for the environment, the atmosphere of this eatery
seems to boast a more warming intensity where the main theme revolves around
orange and red colour. Perhaps that would somehow add some “hotness” to the
more palate-friendly spicy broth.
Cheers and Carpe Diem! ❤
