THE ALLEY @ STEWART LANE, PENANG

Alright, meanwhile we are back to our usual café hopping adventures while enjoying a brief hiatus from the ongoing events coverage. This time let’s unwind leisurely at the heritage town of Georgetown while sipping some good crafted cup of joe as you enjoy the day slowly slipped away from you.

Previously, we have shared about several cafes that are popular among both the locals and tourists such as Coffee Affairs, Dcova, Wheeler’sCafé, Hana Cafe and even the vintage gastropub of Kim Haus and so on and so forth. And the list wouldn’t be complete without the addition of a quaint little café that has raved every foodie around with its terrific churros!

And it’s none other than The Alley, located at Steward Lane, in Penang.

I was first introduced to this cozy café by Mr Cool who has a knack for good café places, where it provide a comfy place to catch up with buddies while indulging in their respective repertoire of house specialties. Ehmm, well, so far his taste has done a pretty good job that has landed me craving for the cronuts from time to time when am back to KL. Bravo!

What’s a café without coffee? Over here, all caffeinated beverage are served with a standard double shots for ultimate enjoyment.

LATTE (MYR 9)
Just lovely!

CHAI LATTE (MYR 10)
Having this chai latte conjured up the sweet memory when am being introduced to the spiced milk for the first time at Crave Café. The smell and aroma of cinnamon-infused drink was always pleasant to the sense.

CHURROS (MYR 6-SMALL)
Here you go, the excellent house recipe of Spain signature choux-based snack that are traditionally served fried till crispy layer on the outside while remaining pillowy soft within. These long fritters were toothsome and nice to have it either by themselves or with various toppings like cinnamon, caramel or chocolate. Best enjoyed while hot.

CRONUT (MYR 9)
One bite and you’re destined to get hooked on to it forever!
The bewitching breed of croissant and donut was unexplainably toothsome, fluffy and crispy in each flaky layer, not to mention its enticing buttery taste. Although the crumbles of dark cookies added more crunch and dimension to it, I actually prefer to have it by itself, for the New York-trademarked pastry was already convincingly divine on its own with the lightly caramelized each pastry layer. Thumbs up!

Guess gotta make a halt for now to allow latest happening news from uphill resorts to spice up this school breaks further. But rest assured that more café updates will be coming up your way very soon, so stay tuned!
