YELLOW BRICK ROAD @ BATAI VILLAGE, DAMANSARA HEIGHTS
Finally paid a visit to the
much raved about latest café which has gotten much approval from friends around
with its sumptuous serving of culinary treats- Yellow Brick Road!
Coincidentally, as luck
had it, we happened to meet one of the founder of the charming café hours
earlier when we were attending the Coffee
Appreciation “Good Coffee Day organized by IJM Land which featured TheCoffee Man’s star, Sasa Sestic (2015 World Barista
Champion), followed by a special Filter Coffee Workshop by 2008 Sydney/NSW Latte Art Champion Tristan Creswick. Called it the magic work by the law of attractions unto coffee lovers which
also landed us a hands-on coffee brewing experience earlier (=
Yellow Brick Road, as it’s
called, imprints a hipster-like image, equipped with quaint, comfy design that
resembles a homey enclave for one to seek respite after some tiring day ahead.
The soothing vibes definitely makes it one of the ideal places for your brunch
fix or just enjoying some personal tête-à-tête session with your soul mate over
some cuppa.
Components of wooden
furniture to add on some vintage element.
As it’s well known for its
toothsome pancakes dishes, thus the dining experience here wouldn’t be complete
without a taste of the highlights I suppose (=
MUCH ROOM FOR MUSHROOMS (MYR
24)
Pancakes
with creamy assorted mushrooms, beef bacon bits, curry leaves, spiced croutons
and truffle oil. Now I know why I particularly enjoyed the distinctive yet
subtle aroma that were accompanying- it’s the truffle oil!
I’ve
always love truffle-themed creations and always up for that! Talking about
truffles, it slowly brought back the memory when we were relishing in the many truffle dishes crafted at Basil Pasta House previously too,
awesome!
As for
the pancake version by Yellow Brick Road, I like how the somewhat thick sauce but
balanced in consistency as discerned from the flavourful mushroom cream which
paired really well with the savoury bacons and fragrant curry leaves.
SEAFOOD TAPENADE SPAGHETTI
(MYR25)
Spaghetti
with tapenade pasta served with basil pesto, prawns, clams, squid and a touch
of chili. It’s tad briny to me, perhaps due to the fact that the sauce was made
up mainly of olives, capers and anchovies. Other than that, prawns were fresh
and chewy with pasta done al dente.
A
slice of light bites to the sweet ending.
I actually
don’t mind the layer of cream to be slightly thicker so to add a more velvet,
moister and smoother coat to the otherwise bit dry texture to my liking.
EARL GREY CAKE (MYR 10)
As
tummy was still kinda full with coffee from the event earlier, so decided to go
caffeine-free and I suppose a passion fruit- based beverage would be perfect to
mellow down the day a bit. And yeah, I enjoy the tangy pairing of yogurt with
the citrusy fruit itself!
PASSIONADE (MYR 15)
Overall,
the ambiance exuded by the café was pleasant, complemented with mouthwatering
offering of fusion flairs that were able to tickle the taste buds amusingly. Only
that, you might need to be on sharing table when the place gets too crowded
especially during the weekend.
