HUNAN FOOD| RESTAURANT XIANG MAN QING - 湘满情湘川菜馆 @ FRASER BUSINESS PARK

This has got to be my first share of Hunan dining experience as my little faint tongue would usually shun away from extremely spicy delights (=.  But being a foodie dictates some adventure along the gastronomy journey right? So here we are, at Xiang Man Qing restaurant, located at Fraser Business Park, just off from the main busy road of Jalan Loke Yew at Cheras.

Run by owner who hails from China itself, most of the menus here are revolving around the authentic way where the usual Hunan folks would love to enjoy their delicacies, also added with some interesting twist as time evolves. In short, it has an encyclopaedic repertoire of mainly Hunan ccooking.

Equipped with bright and comfortable interior that is immensely incorporating Oriental elements, it does seem like those familiar banquet halls where people often hold their Chinese wedding dinner and throw party for special occasion.

Let’s have a look at what awaited us earlier at the round table that we soon sampled with a profound experience.

PEPPER PORK BELLY AND CHICKEN SOUP (MYR 48- SMALL, MYR 88- BIG)
An engaging aroma instantly wafted through the air as soon as it arrived, piping hot filled with pork belly, chicken meats alongside other herbal companions especially the pepper aroma.

PORK ON THE HANGER (MYR 32)
This was something worth trying and interestingly appealing both visual and taste. Each slice of cooling, crisp cucumber was intermittently layered with a slice of bacon that was juicy and tender with its balanced fat-meat ratio proportion. It’s good on its own for those who enjoy the crunchiness of the cucumber, otherwise, you may go with the chili oil dipping which would further enhance the flavor………………….the hotter way (=

GARLIC CRAYFISH (MYR 68)
Baby lobster steamed with chopped garlic and scallions.

HAND GRABBED LAMB RIBS (MYR 48- SMALL, MYR 86- BIG)
Apparently this was one of the quintessential dish from Hunan that one shouldn’t miss when dining here. It’s sorta grilled and baked till crispy where it reaches the uber smokiness that also infusing the fragrance from pepper. Hell yeah, it gonna be another lip-challenging dish, hehe.

SEAFOOD PLATTER WITH THAI SAUCE (MYR 128)
Fierily looking tray of oceanic temptations served all at one go!
From bamboo clams, scallops, crabs, prawns, clams, tilapia fish to enoki mushrooms and other spices, this would surely delights the taste buds of those of you who are a die-hard seafood lover. Spicy? Yeah, a little bit (=

GARLIC VERMICELLI STEAM PRAWN
Nicely garnished prawns steamed and juicily served with silky glass noodle with handful dose of minced garlic and chopped scallions.

STEAMED SEAFOOD EGG

SPICY CHICKEN GIZZARD (MYR 32)
It might be tad spicy dish to me, but the chewy gizzard seems to tempt me with its bouncy texture somehow which then led me further with several helping, hehe.

BOILED BEEF (MYR 42)
Due to the right timing of par-boiling the beef meats, they came up pretty toothsome and tender. Recommended but caveat be taken; it’s one of the hottest dish that we tried out that day, so get ready for some numbness bite on your tongue (=

Overall, it has been a unique and different experience for us who often acquainted ourselves with Western and Korean grubs. It has been an eye-opening so far, despite my palate would still need some time to get itself familiarize with the slightly spicy and collagen-rich fatty layers dishes, which are the heritage from afar.

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
