6 FOOD TRIPPING IN 1 DAY @ SRI HARTAMAS- RAWANG- SERENDAH- BROGA- CHERAS
As
amazing and unbelievably as it might sound from the title, it still appear astonishing
to me when recapping the memories of the day trip again, as how we had actually
kicked off the impromptu wanders for the search of well-talked hidden yummy
gems here. Called it the next excursion addiction from the recent Taiping getaway
perhaps? (=

So how
do we start off initially?
As
eager as we were to head over to Rawang the soonest possible to have a try on
the social media recommended melon soup, it came to our conscience that, wasn’t
it too early for breakie then? And geographically, we still located in Klang
Valley, hehe.
As
such, the Chief Food Connoisseur (CFC) suggested that we had a quick, light
breakfast first in KL before depart for the gastronomic trip……………….before we
realized at the end of the day, our tummies were successfully ‘refreshed’ with
6 pitstops of various snacks, hehe.
We can’t
really decide ala minute which cafes to visit, so ended up with Breadfruits as we hadn’t been there
before.
BreadFruits
No. 17, Jalan 26/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas,
Wilayah Persekutuan, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
So
about 11am, we reached the place for brunch, got ourselves comfortably seated
at one corner while patiently waited for our grubs to arrive.
LONG BLACK (MYR 7)
Has
always been CFC’s favourite before trying to coax him into enjoying hand brew
as well :D
W. HONEY LATTE (MYR13)
Alright,
comes with some dosage of wild honey- but somehow still rather insignificant to
my palate, hehe. Or just make do with the ordinary latte at MYR 9
GRILLED CHEESE BACON (MYR 22)
Came
as expected with toasties sandwiching melted cheddar cheese, tomato and rockets.
It reminds of the Meltdown and still
the best so far with its oozing luscious cheesy filling!
Meltdown |
After
some good 1 hour time spent there, we left for the melon place without further
ado.
Gerai Makanan
Wong Yoke Kim (Village Restaurant) at Rawang
No 15-16, Block B,
Gerai M.P.S. Rawang, 48000 Rawang, Selangor
This
place is said to be famous for its winter melon double-boiled soup. So we heed
the other’s suggestion to try out their melon and coconut soup, accompanied by
a plate of stir-fried young tapioca shoot. CFC strongly advised no rice as we
would need more yummy space to survive the rest of the day, haha……………
STIR FRIED TAPIOCA
Compared
to elsewhere, I prefer this style of cooking her as it’s not that usually oily.
COCONUT (MYR 18)
Slowly
cooked with various Chinese herbs with chicken meats, steeping in the sweetness
of coconut flesh. The overall combination seems pretty sweet over savory to me,
which was why the latter melon soup wowed my palate.
WINTER MELON (MYR 23)
Love
the subtle sweetness that derived from the dried scallops, red dates, chicken
meats and dried longan, making it a very homey broth in fact.
After
lunch, what’s next? How about some local coffee sounds like? Hooray!
Kedai Kopi Yee
Kee 义记茶室
1, Lorong Kampung
Dato Harun, Kampung Dato' Harun, 48200 Serendah, Selangor, Malaysia
Reached
the old school style kopitiam at about
slightly 15 minutes passed 3 in the sultry afternoon. As it had already passed
the breakfast and lunch time (they started operating since early morning) most
of their signatures like herbed egg and pandan layer cakes had sold off, so we
had to make do with steamed kaya-butter Hainan bread and some coffee, at least
the coffee was still available.
So
tada- soft steamed bread with Kopi and Kopi Cham (Coffee mixed with Tea) at
Serendah.
Before
the day gets darker at about 4pm+, we decided to stop for Templer Park awhile
since we were travelling afar and nearby here anyway. Some brisk walking and
hiking might be good for effected and faster digestion…………..and so I thought,
hehe. But actually, there weren’t anything much to see, apart from the muddy artificial
pond further up. Perhaps, the government could do something to upkeep this
place soon? We did hear the cascading sound of the waterfall as we walked mid-way
up, but decided not to proceed ahead as the night was falling soon. Therefore,
off we go next, Broga- to fill up for dinner time!
Kedai Makanana
Pokok Jati
Batu 25, Jalan Broga, Semenyih, 43500, Semenyih,
Selangor, 43500, Malaysia
At one
glance, you might easily miss out this spot especially during the day, as the restaurant
was of wooden built, like any usual Kampung
Baru (new village development neighbourhood) and furthermore, situated just
off the highway. Unless, it’s lighted up at night, else it’s just quite
oblivion to many.
First
timer for me, so just asked for the owner’s recommendation.
SALT BAKED FISH (MYR 22- SMALL)
For
purist and fish lover, this is good enough and makes a nourishing dish. Would
be better if it’s not that salty, haha. But I really do love fish very, very
much!
CHILLI PADI GRILLED FISH (MYR
22- SMALL)
For
this recipes, we went for the Blue Tilapia instead of the usual Tilapia for the
salted version. Surprisingly, I’m more inclined towards this choice even my
faint tongue doesn’t really goes well with spicy food, but can’t help as it’s agreeably
toothsome. So, more water and leong cha (Chinese
tonics) to cool off the heat…………………
LEONG CHA (YONG SAM SO- GINSENG
ROOT)
ICE JELLY BEE
Rounding
up soon? Oh yeah…………..but after another speedy session for Western cup of Joe
at I.One Cafe,Cheras, before wrapping up the eventful day with Train to Busan movie at Leisure Mall, hehe.
I.One Cafe @ Taman
Supreme, Cheras
23, Jalan Jintan,
Taman Supreme, Cheras, 56100. KL, Malaysia.
It was
a lovely café though, that we stumbled upon while wazing and googling at the
eleventh hour, which café that was nearby to Leisure Mall’s GSC, so that we can
get some sweet desserts bite before lazing at the cinema couch, haha. Will be
sharing more interior pictures of the relaxing café in another post soon.
GUINESS CHOCOLATE
CAKE (MYR 13)
Fell short to our expectation as there was barely any hint
of Guiness in it, apart from the chocolate taste. Perhaps should have chosen
the rum-infused slice instead (=
LEMON CURD CHEESECAKE
(MYR 12)
Luckily, this dainty slice did surprise us amusingly. Came with decent tartness that was
well-balanced with the smooth cheese filling. Which then paired really well with cuppa,
especially with Long Black, as happily and enthusiastically acclaimed by CFC,
haha. Good to see that happy, foodie face, whee!
POUROVER COFFEE (MYR
10)
Guatemala Maragogype freshly brewed in 200ml portion. Smooth and fruity palate besides very
affordably priced as well, considering it’s of single origin hand brew.
SPICY MANGO LATTE
(MYR 13)
And
for a lill’ more of cheeky surprises, voila- Spicy Mango Latte!
It
really came with mango taste with humble spiciness. Although am not usually a
fan of flavoured coffee most of the time, but this, definitely something awakening
new for some playful twist. Bespoke? Hell yeah!
Gonna
pen off for now, but do stay tuned for more food and travel sharing coming your
