CROCODILE FARM @ TELUK SENGAT, KOTA TINGGI, JOHOR
Well, this gotta be my FIRST ever direct experience with
crocodiles (and even touching them with bare hands too) during the visit at
Teluk Sengat Crocodile Farm since our arrival to Tiara Desaru Residence and DesaruFruit Farm the day before.
This crocodile conservation centre-cum-tourist attraction is
actually run by a noble reptilian lover who then passed on the business to his
descendent due to old age, which eventually got inherited to his daughter to
preserve the heritage. The daughter who was also our tourguide at the farm then,
explains to us that these reptiles are actually a lovely lot and can be quite
vulnerable depending on situation, apart from the usual intimidating facts that
we knew about them generally. “They can be the King when in the water, but not
necessarily when on land”, she says.
A grown up crocodile can really reach the human height and most
active especially when feeding time. So best leave them alone when they are
hungry, keke.
But this 2-months old baby croc, it’s a lovely friend to everyone-
even with the kids! It’s rather tame and friendly, due to the fact that it was
actually raised up by human- the tourguide and her brother, who treat it just
like another family member. The little pet seems to enjoy some light cuddling
and hugs that also easily relaxed when put it in an overturn position. Want
some massage huh? Fyi, the crocodile scales- it’s natural armour, are actually
quite a smooth piece and not too cold, but then, the beauty of the scales
pattern is an acquired art to behold in other people’s perspective.
The sanctuary actually houses over 1, 000 crocodiles that come in
different sizes and shapes, as well as species too. Some even lives up beyond 155 years! Not only that, like human, they
are also susceptible to disabilities too like borned without tailed, distorted
limbs and other handicapped case.
Even so, do not trigger them as these minorities get agitated easily in the name of competitive survival in the wild |
Past their prime, this geriatric prefers to spend their golden
years sunbathing rather than scaring visitors away. |
Guess some telltale stories about crocodiles have been slightly demystified?
(=
Visitors can also feed them with fresh chickens (3 for RM20) and
admission fees to this farm for both adults and children are MYR 8 and MYR 4
respectively.
Have a knack for some exotic food? You may then check out Crocodile
Herbal Soup at MYR 30 per pax or crocodile meat served in various way. To this
attempt, I raise white flag :D
Since it was a lovely day of munificent sunlight, how about a
splash at Water Theme Park sounds?
Fret not, no crocodiles are in the pool and it’s also children friendly. Check
it out!
Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
