YOUMIQI CUISINE OKR 有米气 @ OLD KLANG ROAD

After some earlier deliberation in deciding which restaurant should we pick for your dear friend farewell dinner, so at last Youmiqi Cuisine 有米气 came into the picture.

Guess another episode of Chinese cuisine sharing particularly in Shunde culinary art of Guangdong province, at this Foshan delicacy establishment which is located at Old Klang Road. And talking about Old Klang Road, never fails to remind me of Le Pont Boulangerie and Canton Kitchen (=

Canton Kitchen

This Cantonese style of dishes does share some resemblance to our local Oriental flair to some extent. In order to preserve the authenticity of the food, chefs from China are purposely brought in together with the assistant crew to impart that original taste that is closer to home here.

Over here, various Chinese artworks and calligraphy are seen adorning the exposed concrete walls, with patrons get to choose whether to dine in within a modern oriental setting or VIP dining rooms that embodied a more posh interior furnished with ornamental ceramics and cushioned seats with artistic wallpapers.

And dinner is now ready to be served on the round, glassy lazy Susan tables! We booked the VIP rooms and had two tables by ourselves! Hehe………

STEWED FISH WITH SHRIMPS AND CRABS (Based on Market Price)
One of their famous pot. Assorted seafood ingredients are being intermixed and served in flavourful broth contained within a huge copper wok. Actual price vary as it is based on the choice of selected ala carte seafood to be added in. Essentially, Youmiqi caters to more upmarket Chinese meal as the total bill eventually came up to MYR 100 per person for a group of 18.

But i really enjoy the garoupa fish real much! Very fresh and sweet!

SHUNDE TRADITIONAL CHEE CHEONG FUN WITH PICKLED VEGETABLES (MYR 10)
Personally I still prefer Hong Kong style Chee Cheong  Fun with prawns and char siew filling.

SHUNDE STEAMED BLACK FUNGUS (MYR 20)
Slurpy and tad slimy- but they are good source of fibre that improves bowel movement.

STEAMED SILVER EEL WITH BEAN SAUCE (MYR 25)
Seems to be too salty and strong flavor for me.

STEAMED PORK WITH GINGER AND SCALLION (MYR 28)

STIR FRIED GREEN DRAGON VEGETABLE ()
Otherwise known as Royale Chives ( 韭菜 ) that comes from the same family as in chives and leek, it strucked my palate and captured me as in love at first sight! It’s very crunchy, refreshing and juicy in every bites! Enjoy and love it darn………………….much!

Somehow, I think the dessert name is not accurately named or directly translated from Chinese, hence can’t avoid the intermittent puzzle face of mine, LOL……

CHEESE BAKED YAM TART (MYR 16)
Basically it’s either Japanese or Indonesian purple sweet potato that got steamed before topped with a mild-melted cheddar cheese. And I think the sweet potato is already good on its own, so I would go without the cheese if given the choice (=

RED BEAN MILK CUSTARD (MYR 16)
Ultimately, this surely got me connected it with Taiwan stye pan pizza with the bounteous addition of chopped scallions. Simple buttered bread that is warm to the heary (and of course to the tummy too, haha)

Juices to rejuvenate after a glorious fete!

WATERMELON JUICE & SOUR PLUM LIME JUICE (MYR 8 each)

When it comes to any warm gathering with close buddies alike, that certainly calls for some good toast, no? (=
** Wine self-brought in by one of of our wine lover aficionado :D

Bulletin Place Merlot 2014 &  Talinga Park Moscato 2014

Needless to say, my favourite bottles always to the whites and Moscato!

 2014 Talinga Park Moscato
It’s so fruity, refreshing aromas and followed by a lively palate of fresh melon and citrusy, zesty spritz! First time having it and I’m hooked! The last time with such innocently, first-time, lovely encounter that got me enchanted was the Fürstenfass Pheromon 750!
