SUSHI AZABU | 4F, THE TABLE @ ISETAN THE JAPAN STORE
Talking about
exquisite fine dining where each dish
is intricately prepared, most of the time, the limelight is on French cuisine, as far as Western
culinary is of concerned. Nevertheless,
let’s not also forget our Asian prowess from the East; The Land of Rising Sun.
Japan, which is
globally recognized and famed for its reputable Omakase flair, is well known with their cornerstone showcase of selfless
hospitality termed as Omotenashi, in Japanese
culture. This secret of Japanese service is loosely defined as the art of
welcoming guests genially into your home or establishment and treating them with
utmost respect and seriousness.
In this case, Sushi Azabu, which is currently located
at 4F, The Table at Isetan The Japan
Store, welcomes you to traditional house specialty sushi that is crafted
from freshly flown in fish from Japan and prepared by esteemed chefs trained in
Japan as well, to execute the highest quality of preparation, elegant cooking
and demonstration of Omotenashi;
selfless service with a spirit of warmth and respect, as they present to you
the elaborated Omakase course.
Sushi Azabu is New York City’s Michelin starred sushi den that is tucked on a
quiet street in Tribeca. Once inside the subterranean spot, guests will be
transported to Japan for an authentic and intimate eating experience.
Now that you have
entrusted your refined omakase course to the seasoned hands of culinary maestro;
Chef Makoto Saito, let’s have a swift
run-down of the dainty dishes that is specially selected by the chef over the crème
de la crème fresh catch and then whole-heartedly prepared by the affable chef!
Saito-san, who has honed the sushi making skills for10 years now, shares how
fundamentally important it is for every Japanese chef to acquire and master this
expertise of crafting a good sushi before he or she could advance any further. “Lots of technique and adeptness are
involved, even the spiritual state of the chef is paramount as that would
determine the quality of the food served”, shared by Saito-san. Hence, interactive
camaraderie between the chef and guests throughout the dining course are
encouraged to spur a positive yet livelier environment.
(Just like how a
barista skills and his or her mood shall affect the final taste of the
extracted coffee^^)
