CHICKEN UP | SINGAPORE’S NO.1 KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN @ SUBANG JAYA

Chicken Up, Singapore’s No.1 Korean Fried Chicken, has been home to authentic Korean dishes for some  7 years now, before finally arriving in Malaysia.

Known for its unique taste due to its preparation, Chicken Up’s distinct flavour is mainly because each chicken part is treated to a 12 hours marinating process using the original Chicken Up recipe and then deep-fried to seal in the flavours. This process ensures that every piece is bursting with succulent juices and tenderness to create a great satisfying taste.

Chicken Up started in 2010 in Singapore with a vision to provide a casual dining experience and introduce some of the authentic Korean cuisines in the country.

In the past, it has been picked by Tan Hsueh Yun, food editor at SPH, as the best tasting Korean Fried Chicken in Singapore from a blind tasting challenge conducted by RazorTV. In this challenge, the editor was asked to try 8 different Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) recipes from 8 different stores in Singapore while she was blindfolded. After describing each of the 8 chicken dish, she was made to choose which one is the BEST, and has picked CHICKEN UP as the Best Korean Fried Chicken!

And now, this loved by many Korean chains has arrived onshore at Subang Jaya, to be much nearer to Klang Valley folks here. The chic 3-storey restaurant is located just opposite SS15 Courtyard Mall, making it conveniently accessible and is also near to Subang Jaya newly extended LRT station.

Among the many delicious Hanguk recipes that we sampled……………

BULGOGI FRIES (MYR 26)
Definitely not your usual mundane fries where you get to hit 2 of your fave birds (food) here with just one stone, yum yum!

YANGPA BOMB (MYR 18)
Crispy golden onion petals served with fresh carrot and cucumber sticks with signature sauce. It dies reminds me of the beautifully bloomed floral cod fish I tried at Ruyi & Lyn :)

MAMA’S GINSENG CHICKEN SOUP (MYR 58)
Ah, here you go my fave samgyetang!

Spring chicken stuffed with rice, boiled with ginseng and other herbs in a hot and nutritious broth, mashitta!!

HAEMUL PAJEON (MYR 56)
Seafood and green onion pancake served with savoury sauce.

MEGA HALF CHICKEN (MYR 28- 4 PCS)

SPICY UP
Can be tad tongue-challenging to some, hehe.

CRUNCHY UP
Delightful original crunch in every bites! Love it to the max!

SIGNATURE WINGS (MYR 18- 4PCS)
CRISPY

YANGNYUM CHICKEN WINGS
But I can’t help than falling in love with this savoury house relish, awesome!
Not only the meat is juicily retained within, even with those chicken breasts, they tasted equally toothsome and not dry at all!

Similarly, original crunch was lovely in every bites!

UGLY TANG STEW (MYR 38)
Chicken Up’s unique army stew or better known as budae jigae, is deliciously cooked with chicken slice, ham, sausage, vegetable, macaroni, baked bacon, cheese and noodles, which comfortably feeds up to 3 pax.

SNOW SQUID TOPOKKI (MYR 68 FOR 3-4 PAX)
Popular Korean street food made with soft rice cake, fish cake and vegetables seasoned with sweet chili sauce before topped it off with crisply fried whole juicy squid and snow cheese. The deep fried octopus was already terrific by itself! Daebak!

WATERMELON BINGSU (MYR 28)
Dessert lovers especially bingsu fans will cry foul if you missed this darling whenever dining here.

Something which seemingly common initially but turns out fantastically enchanting after the first bite! Smooth and velvet milky soft, snowflakes delicately melted in your mouth upon contact, and goes moreishly well with the paired azuki and vanilla ice creams, superb! It’s actually large enough to be shared among 3 to 4 pax, unless you are seriously a die-hard sweet tooth, then you can have it all alone by all means! Haha………

Alright, some drinks to cool off the body...

LYCHEE BEERITA (MYR 48)
Instead of Sojurita, I was recommended this fruity concoction instead as I prefer something sweeter in my booze. Those who have been following my food trail would know it- dessert wine, white wine, rose and soju bomb, have been quite some regular faces here, haha.

LIGHT BULB DRINK (MYR 13)
Choose from Soda, Juice or Smoothie.
Blue Lemon, Pink Guava, Blueberry, Matcha Latte and many more!

The new location is within walking distance from major businesses along with shopping and entertainment venues. With an impressive 120 seats, this gorgeous new addition is in response to the tremendous popularity of their Award-Winning Chicken and other Best-Selling Korean Cuisines.

So now you know where to head to the next time you are hankering for some toothsome Korean food!
