MATHIEU PALOMBINO- MOTORINO’S FOUNDER & OWNER @ SKY AVENUE, GENTING HIGHLANDS
Yes, here we are, back again to our favourite highland
excursion to fix our craving for authentic Italian staple as well as an
aromatic cup of joe from France.
So after attending
the glitz and glamour runway
fashion show featuring Thomas Sabo’s latest design featuring all the
jewellery and timepiece, alongside tenants at SkyAvenue, we eagerly dropped
by Cafés Richard to mend the yen for caffeine calling especially their
superb handbrew coffee. But first, let’s get it started with some savoury Neopolitan
nosh customarily at Motorino, shall we? (=
Keeping to
the original design
ethic of the
American outlets, Motorino at Sky
Avenue seating will not
be plush or
opulent but instead, there will
be 1920s metal
chairs in burgundy, decent space
with a façade featuring gold -bordered Italian windows, depicting the Irish era
at Brooklyn during the good ol’ days.
We were in luck that
afternoon as coincidentally, the founder and owner of Motorino; Mathieu Palombino , was in town that weekend to share more
insights pertaining to his brand and staying true to his Italian roots who is
of Belgian-Italian descendance.
Some antipasti to
first tickle the taste buds!
ROASTED CHICKEN WINGS (MYR 18)
Comes with 3 tenderly
roasted chicken wings, appetizingly marinated with lemon, mint, chili flakes
and onions.
MOTORINO MEATBALLS (MYR 24)
3 huge and juicy
chicken meatballs braised in tomato sauce, pecorino and basil, whereby each bites
is satisfying meaty and texturized.
For pizze, we were
served signatures such as………
MARGHERITA (MYR 47)
MEATBALL (MYR 56)
Tomato sauce, mozzarella,
chicken meatballs and basil- should you prefer to enjoy your meatball snacks
the less parallel way- served on a crusty pizza with pieces of minced meats casually
sprinkled across. What a rusty, toothsome slice!
PEPPERONI (MYR 58)
Tomato sauce, mozzarella,
beef pepperoni, extra virgin oil, sea salt, pecorino and fresh chili for some
added spiciness.
……….. before cooling
off with some berries thirst-quencher.
The most
eye-catching feature of the restaurant
will be two
large pizza ovens
which were shipped in from Naples
in Italy. Customized pizza spades from Napoli were also fabricated to be used as
decorations. These oar-shaped paddles traditionally
made from one
single piece of wood will also be used in the making of
the pizzas.
Diners who have not
had the decadent pleasure of a Motorino experience may be a little taken aback
as to how singularly their menu is dedicated to pizza. Apart from a selection
of antipasti, pizza reigns supreme.
