Malaysia-inspired recipes at its new outlet at The Robertson!
Just in time to catch it live and fresh from the oven as we just returned from our WA trip in Perth just the week before! And yea, we are still missing the beautiful land of Australia especially its Great Southern Ocean road which we would find time to share more scenic pictures once we find the time to pen it down yeah (=
Comes this May, get ready to tantalize your palates with
some new flavours and aromas featured in the Jamaica Blue Seasonal Menu. The menu offers more than 10
mouthwatering dishes, from delicious breakfast classics, savoury mains through
to delectable sweet treats.
Established in 1992 by FoodCo, one of Australia most
successful retail franchise companies, Jamaica
Blue concept is built on the foundation of ‘fine coffees and fabulous
food’, delivering a truly unique contemporary café experience with exclusive
premium products and award-winning coffee. The name “Jamaica Blue” derives from
the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, which is one of the best coffee-producing
regions in the world and home to the brand’s exclusive Jamaica Blue Mountain
coffee. The chain which has started since 20 years ago, is now spanning over
170 cafés in Australia, New Zealand, China, The UAE, Singapore, Malaysia and
the United Kingdom.
“We’re constantly
looking at ways to excite our consumers through our menu offerings”, said Mr.
Teo Tien Su, General Manager of Jamaica Blue Fine Coffees Malaysia. This
Seasonal Menu features an exciting array of dishes to reflect our simple food
philosophy of using fresh, quality
ingredients to create classic café dishes with a twist. We are also very
excited to introduce the newly launched Spiced-Upped range specially created by
the R&D Food Team in Australia to suit the Malaysia palate with locally
inspired recipes. All the dishes complement perfectly with our most celebrated
Jamaica Blue Mountain single origin coffee, one of the world’s best gourmet
coffees and also our own unique blend- the award-winning Jamaica Blue Signature
Blend.
The exciting new seasonal menu comprises of Spiced-Upped Menu
(Malaysia-inspired recipes) alongside Jamaica Blue Worldwide Launched Winter
Menu.
Spiced-Upped Menu (Malaysia-inspired recipes)
Chicken Laksa Pasta (MYR 20.90)
Alluringly concocted with chicken meat, pasta, coconut
cream, spices and coriander, it certainly fits the bill well as iconic Malaysia
delights with a tasty tweak to it! The fettuccine was cooked al dente and
evenly mixed with the golden laksa gravy which initially successfully tricked
me into thinking it as salted egg pasta, haha. Good one!
Satay Chicken Pies (MYR 14.90) & Beef Rendang Pies (MYR 16.90)
Both pies were deliciously savory where each of the moist
and tangy filing is loveably enveloped within a fluffy pastry pies that gives
them some light flakiness. It’s of no strange that they do come tad aromatic
due to the fact that the earnest recipes actually incorporates potpourri of
Asian herbs such turmeric, lemongrass, cinnamon, tamarind, coconut milk, mango
yoghurt and many more.
Let’s welcome the tantalizing Winter Menu now!
Jamaica Blue Worldwide Launched Winter Menu
Turkish Spiced Poached Eggs (MYR 18)
A plate of grubs that certainly reminds me of a hearty big
breakfast, this spiced version of somewhat resembling of Egg Benedict has its
poached eggs been zest up with dukkah, herb yoghurt, chili butter, spinach, herb
pesto on a toothsome piece of toast. It’s more on the piquancy side where it’s
bit of a tang rather than savoury like the conventional ones, which makes it
much more appetizing.
Grilled Beef Chorizo, Eggs & Asparagus Brekkie Roll (MYR
20.90)
Beef Chorizo, egg, asparagus, avocado, rocket and chipotle
aioli on a roll
Warm Forest Mushroom, Fetta & Spinach Bowl (MYR 20)
Quoinoa & almond porridge, fetta, spinach, poached eggs
with herbs
Mini Carrot & Beef Chorizo & Fetta Loaves (MYR
14.50)
Two mini loaves served with dill and chive yoghurt with a
salad garnish
Mini Forest Mushrooms, Chorizo & Fetta Loaves (MYR
16.50)
Two mini loaves served with dill and chive yoghurt with a
salad garnish
Homemade Lemon Curd Slice (MYR 6)
Deliciously tart and fuss-free piece of homey slice served
with cream, that goes perfectly well with a cup of joe.
Matcha & Dates Smoothie
This Ramadan special drink is really good, i'm lovin' it!
Iced Mocha (MYR 14.50)
On top of these great feast, there were also 2 thematic
workshops being held to spice up the evening- DIY Natural Dry Coffee Scrub by
Organic Touch Malaysia as well as latte art session led by the affable Mr Teo.
It’s definitely a brilliant of chipping in the effort
sustaining the environment as this DIY coffee scrub is merely using sun-dried ground
coffee of Jamaica Blue signature blend, incorporating with olive oil, Epsom
salt, granulated sugar and a drop of fragrant Grapefruit essential oil, and
tada- your naturally dried coffee scrub is ready to rock and roll all over your
body for a smoother skin!
During the latte art session, we get to try hands-on in
making our own cup of latte after interactive guidance by Mr Teo, demonstrating
the challenges and skills that need to be embraced by each barista prior to
delivering a smooth and good cup of coffee eventuallly, interesting! It’s
actually been some time since I last tried my hands in latte art workshop with Illy Café previously and really glad
that evening get to relive back that passionate artsy interest again, thanks to
Mr Teo and Jamaica Blue Malaysia.
Apart from these, there are still many more moreish menu to
tickle your palate amusingly such as Mini Baked Loaf Tacos with a choice of
either Baked Mushroom Chorizo Tacos or Baked Carrot Chorizo Tacos both comes
with avocado, cucumber, rocket, dill, chive yoghurt and served with a salad
garnish, Roasted Pumpkin, Chickpea & Dukkah Bowl, Spiced Apple &
Cranberry Oatmeal Bowl and Spicy Vegetable Pasta Napolitano.
