PEMBERTON YHA @ PEMBERTON, WA
Before reaching Pemby, we were closer to Mother Nature once
again when enjoying the refreshing stroll through the canopy walk amidst the
many treetops. The day started off with some gloomy weather but luckily took a brighter
turn later after we came out from the Ancient Empire
boardwalk linked via Tree Top Walk at
Giants Valley in Denmark.
We were rather astonished by the less
denser population in Denmark
compared to Albany, and to our surprise,
Pemberton was even smaller than the former and locals called it a night rather
early, say by 7pm? And that indirectly also means shorter wandering time for us
and earlier bed time, haha! I was really looking forward to loom around a lill’
longer, u know……………………
So we reached our staycation for that evening at Pemberton Backpackers YHA Hostel which
we had reserved earlier prior to our Aussie trip. Check in time was a tad
delayed as the person in charge was away upon our arrival, so we had no choice
but to wait awhile before finally get to see our cozy and spacious cottage in
the quiet town!
It was the only hostel in town, situated in an original mill
house cottage that has been fully refurbished with modern kitchen and bathroom,
wood fire, a deck out the back with a gas barbeque. The hostel is perfectly
situated near the town centre and walking distance to all local shops and
attractions.
And yea, before question marks started pouring in your mind as
to why these snacks were our dinner for the night, was actually due to my agitated
sulking tummy, arrgghh…..
Had I told you guys in any part of the travel stories
earlier that while enroute to Tree Top Walk
before reaching Pemberton, I had actually puked 3 times along the way! That
sensation was absolutely not pleasant for it took up most of my energy
especially my appetite, jeez! Then the poor WP had to settle down for those
simple, back-to-basic quick nosh at the placid town of Pemberton- no thanks to
that grumpy tummy, arrghhh…… Else, I would have tried some of the local food
there too, as expected :D Anyway, from a quick browse around the neighbourhood,
many or most of the eateries had already closed and left with only handful of
selections which include meals served in hotel. Well, if possible, I’d prefer
to have some local delights that commonly frequented by the folks here- if only
we get to check in and then head out earlier. Well, no worries, we shall save
that for the very next morning!
So we got ourselves a private twin room, which eventually wonderfully
happened to be a whole cottage with several rooms! Of course we were happy to
share the lovely nook with other backpackers too, but we were happier when our
private room for 2 was more like a room for a family of 5! Haha…
We had a queen bed and 2 bunk beds- one sitting adjacently
in a small built-in room next to my queen bed, and the other at the front the
queen bed, diagonally opposite it. The fact that it’s conveyed as “my queen bed” I believed
suffice to hint to the genius attribute of you that the bed gonna be mine and
WP was more than welcomed to have the other 2 bunk beds! Hahaha…………………………………
I just simply love the highly levelled up bed frame and
bouncy mattress that subconsciously transported me into some princessy feel-
except that I don’t jump on the bed like those pillow party, haha….
Seeing the fireplace in the house did brought back some
nostalgic vibes while the warmth slowly imbued the surrounding.
Glad that tummy slowly getting back on track after I took
nearly 1 hour to finish off that bowl of noodles which was “cooked” by WP who
hadn’t prepared any food from the kitchen for me before except from the usual
food-tripping, so considered not too bad I guess, thank you!! (=
And due to the longer-than-usual my noodle consumption time,
I chanced upon new friendship with another two backpackers who were also staying
at the same crib and holding the Perth map too- so we discussed and exchanging
some ideas while I’m still occupying the communal table trying my best to
finish off that bowl of noodles quickly! Indeed “memorable”!
Guess hitting the bed soon is the best with the hope the
body would rejuvenate and feeling better the next day so that my maiden Perth trip
won’t be in vain :D :D
