JEWEL CAVE @ AUGUSTA, WA

It was just the day before where we were captivated by the breathtaking beauty of Cape Leeuwin, using the same Augusta Icons Pass that we bought on the spot upon arrival in the afternoon. As the day was heading towards crepuscule soon after we were done with our lighthouse tour, hence we put off the cave tour (which was also part of the package) to the next day for a better visit time.

This pass confirms the time for your CAPE LEEUWIN LIGHTHOUSE tour ONLY.
It allows you to visit Jewel Cave on any day of your choice, subject to availability, without any expiry date. Call the site directly to book your tour time for Jewel Cave.
Children under 4 years old are NOT PERMITTED to climb the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.
For children between 4 to 16 years old, they must be accompanied by an adult.
All tours must have a minimum of two adults to run.

After checking out from the comfy stay the night before at Baywatch Manor, we got ourselves a simple take-away breakie from Augusta Bakery before driving to catch the earliest tour at Jewel Cave centre which was merely 10 minutes’ drive away from north of Augusta, along Caves Road.

Our guide was very friendly and coincidentally, the same person whom first greeted us the day before at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, what a surprise! :)

Once all participants were ready, the group was briefed with the essential info on What’s Can and Not to ensure the cavernous gem remained unhurt and well-preserved while assuring everyone a pleasant tour.

The route towards the cradle of the earth (pun intended, hehe) gonna be tad rocky and challenging, if not for the brilliantly pathed walkways in the cave with proper warm lightings that allows visitors to catch glimpses of the magnificient, extremely well decorated Jewel cave; containing many beautiful examples of delicate helectites, cave coral, pendulites, and a number of large flowstone formations.

You'll also hear stories of the now-extinct Tasmanian Tigers that fell into the cave (at this highlighted spot) and perished

As the route towards the inner part of cave was rather uneven with some steep stairs at certain juncture, guess it’s best to concentrate appropriately and let the photographs paint the words yea (=

Does it remind you of Tinkerbell? (=

By far, Jewel Cave is the largest show cave in WA, and as the name suggests, it is a true Jewel of the region!

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ℒℴѵ
