2D 1N KLUANG MEDIA & BLOGGER FAM TRIP @ THE INAUGURAL LAUNCH OF LEMBARAN JOHOR TENGAH

Despite having been calling this nation my motherland ever since the very first day I was borne, I have yet to really give this country a good tour around, in this case- the most southern part of Malaysia which is the Johor state. The number of times that I have actually stepped into this state can be easily counted within 5 fingers, with the most that I can relate to is the Desaru trip previously.

Thanks to the inaugural launch of Lembaran Johor Tengah by the homegrown Kluang man himself- YB Chew Cho Sin, that I get to know this calming town of Kluang a little more, in line with is expansion of promoting ecotourism in Johor.

Known to be one of the heritage district for the iconic railway station as well as the quintessential lifestyle of the art of tea (coffee) or more fondly known as ‘yum cha’ session, it is also the birth place for the much-loved, aromatic Kluang coffee which is freshly brewed locally with time-honored recipe that supplies to almost 90% of the coffee shop of the township, wow!

As the journey from to Kluang from Kuala Lumpur takes about 2.5 hours, we departed early on that day at 630am in hope to avoid the traffic and arrive at the several destinations on time.

Witnessing how essentially local coffee beans here are produced in the business that runs through 3 generations till to date, providing more brand awareness and methodology enhancements adopted previously from the nostalgic TV Brand Coffee in the good ol’ days.........

ZENXIN Organic Park

Leading the organic agriculture scene as one of the largest pioneer in this nation, this farm greets you with lush fresh produces that practically live up to the motto of serving its esteemed guests “from-farm-to-plate’. Not only it has the yard traversing over 100 acres with smorgasbord of vegetation, it’s also house to various animal farms, enticing flowers besides assorted fresh fruits and herbs cultivation too. One of the most memorable to me personally has got to be the Ulam Raja’s edible flowers that tastes exactly like a mango! Despite on the fainter tone, it’s already very palatably captivating especially to a French cuisine enthusiast like me otherwise, can you imagine what gonna happen to the garden? Accelerated swift production (clearance) of course! Hehe……

Wrapped up your visit here their special organic steamboat feast that was perfectly set up with a romantic view overlooking the beckoning sunset- how blissful it is!

记肉商 ( Hai Kee Frozen Foods)

Before actually calling it a night on the first day tour in Kluang, we reckon well the town’s hidden gem which is well-loved by local folks here- the ultimately nocturnal indulgence of freshly-roasted-immediately sliced-to-order roasted pork a.k.a Siew Yuk by Hai Kee! This meat business not only touted as one of the preferred and popular supplier of poultry, it also caters for the retailer’s ongoing demand especially for its crackling crispy pork meat apart from the rest of the equally inviting meats such as chicken as well as barbecued meat a.k.a. Char Siew too. On top of that, one of their specialty that you must try whenever dropping by is their luscious pork neck cut that just melt in your mouth! It might be tad greasy to some, but undeniably the sinful attempt is worth the sin once in a blue moon :D Best arrived before 9pm or earlier, unless you don’t mind cramping and joining the crowd of merriment, then that’s fine.

Pork Neck Cut- is bit fatty, hehe

凌晨鸡饭Midnight Chicken Rice of Kluang

Location: 167, Jalan Paya 3/2, Kampung Paya, 86000 Kluang, Johor
Contact: 016-792 5978

So happen it coincides with the township’s special occasion for Mooncake Festival in view of Mid Autumn Festival, the stall that day was exceptionally brightly lit and jovially accompanied by many other stalls too. On the usual days, the stall would only open near midnight and then be prominently identified with the singular kiosk in the middle of the field, which was that night, occupied with stages of celebration.
The packaging itself already relives back those olde worlde era where chicken rice was humbly but deliciously wrapped in oil papers. With simple but earnest execution, the meal simply warms the heart at its best! The fragrant oil rice is simply heaven!

Ling Nam Kopitiam
Location: 26, Jalan Abu Bakar, Paloh, Kluang, Johor

Next we discover also another iconic coffee shop that is no stranger to many caffeine buff here, both near and afar. Helmed by the humble and light-spirited octogenarian Mr Wong, this kopitiam has long been maneuvered by him and his lovely wife alongside with amiable staff, who never fails to catch the customers palatably with its aromatic coffee and traditionally toasted, fluffy bread with its homemade kaya, deliciously topped up with butter!  Not forgetting its toothsome sambal nasi lemak, fried mee hoon with the right amount of spice, on top of the perfectly done half-boiled eggs that makes the best marriage with its famous toastie- ma ma mia!

Besides that, Mr Wong is one warm persona who adores the aesthetics value, be it the ancient whatnots as well as the figurative literature meanings. This……. I would try to decipher again in near future as my Chinese is kinda limited to verbal communication, haha. But fret not, all the explanations behind this golden piece of love letter which was shared by Mr Wong is well embraced and mindfully transcended. It’s very meaningful to be honest, as you need to really read beyond what was merely shown on the surface.

Spreading by words of mouth is the delectable Tau Sar Peah freshly baked from the oven at Tong Huat Confectionary. It somehow shares the familiar shadowy resemblance of Penang version pastries, but this place distinct itself from the Northern region with its crispier and flakier biscuits crust on the exterior. It’s light with fluffy green bean filling that tantalizes me the most, besides its other assortment of signatures bakes.
