Char Koay Teow @ SS2 Medan Selera
Missing some of the Penang famous
street food? Worry not, as you can find a decent plate of yummy Char Koay Teow
at this food court too. This is Medan Selera Food court which is strategically
located at SS2 area, and every Thursday, there would be night market in the
vicinity too.
To avoid the unnecessary huge
crowd, so we came during one early weekend for dinner. And then we saw this particular stall which is
beaming with smoke as well as nice aroma too. So we tried its Fried Koay Teow
and settled at nearby table.
It didn’t take too long for the dish
to be served. As soon as it arrived, the aroma that had been wafting in the air
became more intensed. Therefore, without further ado, we savored it whilst it’s
still piping hot. (Caution be taken, hehe)
We asked for spicy flavor, which
of course I ended up drinking more water to balance off the heat then, hehe..
But it was nevertheless, delicious and zesty! The fried noodles was served on a
banana leaves, to make it more authentic perhaps?:P The prawns were fresh and succulent,
fragrantly stir-fried with Chinese sausage that contributes to a minimal amount
of sweetness to the dish. There were cockles too, but I put them away as I
don’t take it, hehe. But I just love the nice eggy aroma that come with the
freshly fried Koay Teow and the egg. Beans sprout that were added were crunchy
and further made toothsome with the sprinkles of shallots. Definitely they
fulfilled the basic requirement of “wok hei”, ^^… Just wish there were few more
slices of Lap Cheong, hehe…. Delish!
