The Palazzo Boutique Restaurant @ Cheras, Kuala Lumpur
Aloha!
Finally, we have embarked on another spectacular epicurean
adventure but this time is at Palazzo, which offers diners a majestic spread of
fusion, ranging from Italian, Spanish to Western, against a modern chic setting
with warm ambience.
Upon entering the restaurant, you would be greeted instantly
by its racks of wine collection magnificently, that are also thoughtfully hand-picked.
The bottles are priced reasonably and Sparkling Red being the signature one,
that is also quite popular especially among the fairer sex for its smoother and
sweeter taste.
This cozy restaurant initially forays as one of the few
local wine retailers at Cheras back in 2011, that proves to live up to the
expectation of fine wine connoisseurs. Due to the overwhelming responses, they
soon venture into F&B as well, with wine being one the special element in
its menu. To do some justice to your taste bud, let’s the yummy food pictures
speak for itself.
How I wish i could have a humble corner like this at home. Am gonna be incredibly thrilled for some time (✿◠‿◠)♫♪
Golden Pumpkin Soup
The gastronomical night kicked off with a bowl of supreme
Pumpkin Soup, made in house without any MSG. Therefore, you could actually
taste the original sweetness of the pumpkin itself with a tinge of herb
fragrance, which taste like oregano to me, but am not sure. This golden-colored
soup is also topped off with a gentle splash of cream and there you go, a
delish and hearty soup for the soul. By the way, their ceramics designs are
pretty cool and lively too with the many bright hues exuded, with mine, being
the best one to match the soup as it’s in orangey :D
Spanish Tapas
During the interlude, games are played and light moments are
shared wonderfully among the guests while waiting for the dishes to be prepared
fresh from the kitchen. I suppose the ice breaking session conducted
successfully as all of us get to know each other better, with some discussion
has been zoomed into food topics already :D Ensue later is a simple
introduction of the wine boutique restaurant by Keith, who shares with us how
the idea of wine pairing gustation with their range of cartes du jour
originates.
Soon, the first plate of appetizer arrived invitingly on the
people-filled tables. It is the special Spanish Tapas that comes with the
tomato salsa seated on salchichon
iberico bellota on the bed of fragrantly toasted baguette. The most
prominent flavor that left you yearning for more the moment you pop it into
your mouth is the intense fragrance of the parsley, alongside the zestful
sourness of the mix, which also includes delicately diced tomato, garlic and
not forgetting the delicious iberico meat. It’s pretty unique with its mild
smokiness with the side being slightly crispy, and to pair it with some cream
on the top, is definitely a brilliant idea! It does remind me our oriental
smoked meat, but of different flavor overall. Nice!
Pate & Crackers
Wow, at first I thought it’s something like butter and bread
spread kind of thing, seeing the humble layout. But soon, we are awed by this
specially designed menu by the restaurant itself. Pate & Crackers is a
snack consisting of smoothly ground chicken and goose liver that is served with
melba toast. The mini bowl that is seated in the middle of the toastie is
actually containing the minced liver and meat which are lightly seasoned. There
is even a thin yellowish layer which we suppose coming from the livers. The
best way to eat it is by spreading it decently but not too much on the bread,
and sinks your teeth soulfully to enjoy it. The taste of the goose liver is
pretty dominant over the other fowl. It has a very finespun texture, creamy and
melts in your mouth easily. I wish I could learn to appreciate this acquire
aroma the soonest possible :D
Smoked Salmon Salad
Soon another lovely dish that proves to be a real hit among
the diners, and it’s none other than the Smoked Salmon Salad. The dressing used
for this salad is pretty special and it’s made in house. It has got the unique
blend of creamy sesame with some nutty crunches that are set to entice the
diners more and more. It’s very appetizing as well when eaten with all the
crisp lettuce, purple cabbage, cucumber, cherry tomato, radish and last but not
least, the smoked salmon. The fish is thinly sliced till it is like literally
melts in your mouth and is very fresh indeed. When all these delish ingredients
are mixed and matched together, it gives out a very refreshing feel and you are
more reenergized with improved appetite. I really love the the sesame sauce,
yummy!
English Roast Pork
Woo hoo! Eventually this succulent spread greets us amusingly
out of the blue. It might look similar to the normal roast pork that you see at
Chinese hawker place, but trust me, you might want to have a paradigm shift
after you tasted it for this English Roast Pork is set to blow your mind!
These pieces of home juicy cutlets are laid on the bed of
hand-mashed potato. They aren’t too fat and you kind of enjoy their crackling
especially on the very top layer of the skin, which is really crispy and get
you hooked on for more. Not only the pork is well done by being mildly
marinated so that you could enjoy the
real taste of the roasted pork, the potato beneath it is equally delish as you
get to bites on the chunky tuber which is coarsely mashed for a better texture.
In no time, the plates have been ‘cleaned off’ thoroughly with finger-liking
still, non-stop praising this spectacular dish!
I Love Ribs
Who don’t love ribs? That’s why this menu is bold enough to
be given this honour of wearing this crown confidently. As expressive as its name depicts, the
elephantine ribs is dished out in such a way that, there is enough space for
some little caveman to take shelter underneath the rib cage, but in this case
would be the mashed potato, hehe.
No wonder the everyone is amazed by the sapid thick gravy
that covers the ribs as these pork ribs are rubbed with a blend of earthy
spices and brushed with a slowly simmered sauce that has a slight kick. And
thus, they come off the grill tender yet pleasantly chewy, with just the right
hit of smoky goodness. And it's just a case of ABC for me to wipe it cleanly and shimmering from the bone :P
Keith, who is the representative of Palazzo, demonstrates to us how to
cut the ribs properly and efficiently, so the maximum enjoyment would be
achieved. We feel grateful and enjoy the meat hassle-free as each one of us are
provided with a pair of plastic glove, that definitely helps us to enjoy more
conveniently. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of Palazzo.
Ocean Mackerel
Soon, come to my all-time favourite fish menu, Ocean
Mackerel, which is also fondly known as Saba fish in Korean cuisine.
This mackerel is grilled with aged sea salt and is then accompanied
with in house special coriander chilli pesto. Not only is the fish meat is
sweet and flakily fresh with crispy skin, the greenish sauce is incredibly
fantastic too! It’s actually not that spicy but is full of blended herb aroma,
which includes minced of rich gingers together with some vinegar I guess, from
the mild piquancy that tickles my taste bud. If to make a gauge, it does
resemble the yellowish ginger gravy that normally served with the usual Hainanese
Chicken Rice. Totally satisfied!
Carbonara Pasta
It’s not long before Italian fares come to join our table. One
word that I could use to describe this menu is ‘Baconlicious’, if that’s
allowed :D
Most of the people would shun away from any white cream
pasta for the fear of being cloying, but not in this case. This is one special Carbonara Pasta that I
found is considerably light with the perfect consistency that I found thus far.
It comes with delicious bacon, white wine and cream that are also topped off with
basil and some black pepper. The bacons really deserve a just compliment for
they are really smacking good with the right smoke apart from the chewy texture
of thin slicing. Another plus point is the addition of white wine which just heightens
up the dish naturally. Good to the sense and visual too!
Pormodoro Seafood
Ensue subsequently is the zesty Pormodoro Seafood pasta,
that greets the diners with its generous spread of seafood. You would be more
than delighted to find the plethora of oceanic delicacies like mussels,
scallops, prawns, clams and basil leaves, thoroughly tossed in savory red sauce
on top of the springy spaghetti. The pasta is cooked al dente and goes really
well with the sauce that contains a balanced blend of sweetness with some
sourness amidst the basil’s fragrance. As
for the seafood, needless to say, they are all really ‘Fresh Catch’, and I
particularly enjoy the scallop and prawn most, for its juiciness. Thumbs up!
Minty and A Little Lamb
Nice and a catchy name given! It does reminds me of the
sweet childhood song, ‘Mary Has A Little Lamb’ :D
Wow, once bitten, twice yearning for more in this case,
hehe. This lamb is really tender and well marinated with the spices and also
black pepper. I guess this largely is contributed by the meat origin which is
said to be of premier grass fed lamb which is grilled in Mediterranean herbs and
then accompanied with fresh mint sauce. The goatish smell is acceptable and the
flavor got enhanced when dipped into the special greenish relish. Eaten with
the fresh salad greens and in house made mashed potato, it’s just perfect!
Signature Pork Chop
Before the gastronomical night wrap up, we are still
welcoming the Signature Pork Chop delightfully from Palazzo. This succulent
pork steak is seared to perfection before drenched in sautéed onion gravy, peas
and mashed potatoes. The thick gravy is prepared with the right consistency,
and creamy. It’s mouthwatering when taken with the soft and succulent pork chop
that gets you chew to the maximum satisfaction. This zestiness is pleasantly
paired with the savoury mashed potato and also the accompanied garden salad. I
also heard that the pork chop has earlier been marinated with red wine that
gives it an extra oomph. Undeniably, Palazzo has keep mesmerizing us along the
way with its specially designed menus to cater the various tastebud from all
folks of life.
Should you already hankering for their sumptuous bills of
fare, Palazzo could be easily located in the vicinity of Leisure Mall. Upon
driving up into the junction while surpassing the flyover bridge linking the
two buildings of the mall, take the immediate right turning upon seeing the Tai
Thong shop on your left. Thereafter, you would see Palazzo on your right real
soon. Hope this simple navigation helps :D

Once again, thousand of thanks to Palazzo and Keith, for their hospitality and I look forward to the next return with other epicureans for more toothsome indulgence. Kudos and keep up the great work! ^_^
Time to call it night after this 'milk' bottle :D It's so cute!
I went to your restaurant, The Palazzo 24/12/2013 for Christmas dinner, did make a reservation, take note but still fail to do it. Me and my friends order 2 Christmas Turkey and 2 Minty & a Little Lamb, however, 2 turkey and 1 lamb came. So, I am waiting for mine and when my Minty & a Little Lamb came, it was super salty, not only that, all the food is cold. You are charging price of a gold and serving customers rubbish. I went and inform one of the staff, the staff just keep ask me to wait, when I am seeking for other option, he just walk off. My friend help me voice out and they gave us non sense excuses. End up we pay the bill but they do not accept credit card payment, so my friend went and withdraw money while me and others are waiting at the cashier counter. Then, the staff ask the cashier "did he pay the bill?", when I heard this, i turn around and asked, "Are you guys afraid we won't pay the bill?", then the cashier just reply "He is just curious". After that, we paid and leave the place.
ReplyDeleteHi Kar Yew,
DeleteFirst and foremost, am sorry to hear that you have to go through such unforeseen experience. But fyi, am not the owner of the restaurant, but just merely one of their customers like you to :)
However, am quite surprise to learn that their current service that is experienced by you and your friend isn't up to par as previously as we do. Could it be due to any changes in their management/ownership? As my last visit to this eatery was more than half a year ago, so am not sure about it either. Perhaps, you could try to feed their manager with your feedback so that they would be future improvements in their customer service? Am sure a good manager would be eager to receive comments from their guest critically and constructively in serving their guests to the best.
Nevertheless, hope you would still enjoy your Christmas season happily and let's hope for more wondrous events would greet us yea!
Till then, Merry Merry X'mas & Happy New Year!!
Cheers........
how about the price?: )
