LWIN LEE | Ramadhan Buffet @ Kembali Kitchen, BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral

As convention has it, food indulgence especially buffet dining, is almost inescapable when it comes to celebrating the holy month of Ramadhan. As Malaysia is known for its rich multi-cultural spectrum that has indeed coloured our lives uniquely, the blessed month is also unanimously celebrated nationwide with almost each hotel and tourism industry offering fantastic treat to commemorate this annual festive season, before ushering Eid al-Fitr, which is just barely a fortnight’s shy away.

In conjunction with this joyous month of Fasting Feast, Kembali Kitchen, has also come up with an international buffet dinner, that is also featuring a nostalgic spread of Malay cuisine signature dishes. It’s surely a great opportunity to get myself familiarized with much more in-depth understanding towards this native culinary fare, thanks to the Ramadhan invitation from DineOut.

Located  at the 4-stars hotel, Kembali Kitchen has indeed made its presence easily accessible to all, with KL Sentral as the nearest landmark. Memory about BESTWESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral, is still vivid and memorable, as it is just few months ago when I dropped by for Wine Degustation Night review. Decently commodious and comfortable accommodation that you could consider when on vacation.

The beautiful evening was still early when I reached and so, get to exchange a few words with the genial Robert Menzies (Resident Manager) and the rest of the amiable staff, before executing the task which am good with, i.e. food spotting as well as food- shooting (=

Guests are treated with house roast meat, grilled seafood, local dishes reminiscence of Malaysian abundant culture, myriads of pastries at the dessert bar, including some western-influenced choices like cold cut, soup and salad, and last but not least freshly made Indian bread, demo lively by Chef Khan. (If only I could acquire half of his skills of catching the dough when it landed after being thrown up, hehe)

Grilled and roast sections are all done al fresco, assuring diners of night-long cozy ambience in the air-conditioned interior at all time.

Grilled Seafood- Fleshy stingray, rings of squids marinated with turmeric and Akule Fish (or more famously known as Bigeye Scad), all under the control of Chef Munir.

Roast Lamb- carved and served on the spot for waiting plates with BBQ Sauce, Mint Sauce or Black Pepper sauce to choose from.

I personally love the zesty mint sauce for the freshness and zestiness it brings along. Meat is also tenderly juicy and aptly-executed.

Chef Khan’s station- Romali Bread, which interestingly tickled my tastebud the most, compared to the usual naan bread. I feel that this bread is much softer and smoother compared to the latter. Ideally Try out both and thou shall fathom. Pleasantly paired with Beef Masala, Chicken Curry or Vegetarian Dhall.

Now it’s time for us to kick-start the main courses, albeit am tempted to start off with sweet indulgence actually :)

All gastronomies are nicely and smartly decked out, against the cool and lime-green wall, matching the upcoming festival theme.

As for desserts, you have from…..

Assorted Malay Kueh

Kurma
~ A must during Ramadhan

Mango Pudding
~ Vibrantly beckoning to you

Crème Brule

………to assorted thoughtfully and fruitily-garnished ice creams.

Overall experience could be regarded as comme il faut, where the tangy roasted lamb is adeptly handled, fragrant herbed briyani fare, my newly-found favourite, Romali Bread and Crème Brule. Notwithstanding, you may find other best-loved dishes as taste is a very personal thing. So wishing all our Muslim friends a blessed and wondrous celebration this coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri with the loved ones.
