LWIN LEE | WONDERMAMA X @ AVENUE K

The usual unsophisticated local flavors has been added with some creative twist over here at Wondermama X, located conveniently at one of the latest prime mall in KL; Avenue K.

Our fond traditional fares has been infused with the old and new inspiration as seen in the array of dishes which we sampled the other day.

Environment was chic and stylish in its own way.....

SIGNATURE NASI LEMAK 2.0 (MYR 16.90)
Among the first to kick start the session was the signature Nasi Lemak 2.0, that warms the palate nostalgically with fried anchovies, hard-boiled egg,  sambal petai prawn, groundnuts, papadam, water spinach (kangkung) and chicken karaage- Japanese style of deep-fried  chicken.

Japanese’s interpretation of fried chicken has always been my favourite , so it’s pretty good here; crispy and juicy. Unfortunately, the stir-fried kangkung is tad too salty than usual. I would prefer it to be stir-fried as it is, or at least with minimum salt or any heavy relish use.

WM NYONYA LAKSA (14.90)
A rather exemplary dish is crowned by this crowd’s favourite, Nyonya Laksa.
Its flavorful curry coupled with slurpy noodles and vermicelli are awesomely paired with the rest of ingredients such as sliced fish cakes, omelet laces, cockles, prawns, julienned cucumber and the addictive sambal.

Ensue not long are MISO SOUP ‘SHIONG TONG’ CLAM (MYR 16.90)

No doubt is a creative culinary initiative that need 20mins of preparation after order, but somehow or rather didn’t quite hit the point as the miso taste has slightly overpowered the sweetness of the clams. Nevertheless, the clams are fresh and chewy, dished up healthfully in the colorful combination of wolfberries, bird’s eye chili, ginger, salted egg, olive oil and some spring onions.

To wash down the throat, we had MATCHA SOY and COFFEE, the typical of our fellow Malaysians starting the day  (=

BELGIAN CHOCOLATE WITH NUTS (MYR 14.90), to end the meal on a sweet note.

Pleasant piece of confectionery, that is fluffy and chocolaty, not too sweet either. The topping layer of chocolate ganache is spiced up with the engaging bites of assorted nuts that includes bites hazelnuts and walnuts.

And am actually still looking forward to its Salted Caramel Mille Crepe in my next return................. (=
