LWIN LEE | BACKLANE COFFEE @ JALAN HANG JEBAT

During a quick getaway to Malacca recently before the New Year kicks in, i was rather thrilled to have stumbled upon another noteworthy café place that serve up an array of moreish homemade cakes and desserts to be paired with an awesome cup of coffee.

I was informed that Malacca town is usually quite sultry thus Backlane Coffee makes the perfect oasis to seek shelter for a moment before we continue for a longer journey in discovering the colors of the heritage town.

Love the laid-back setting instantly the moment it caught my eyes when we are dropping by this new enclave that was located opposite the Jonker Stage (known by the locals) and walkable from the famous Jonker Street Market. While my friend was browsing through the souveniers, guess I was already enticed to it visually, and the next second I realize, I was already securing one cozy nook at one corner, hehe.

Springing up from the Australian concept, you can’t help but to find yourself basking in the tranquility and cozily seated at the comfy coach, observing the unruffledness of the modern life. Currently, the café is managed by Shu Lin, a pretty and cordial trained barista from Australia who is also helming the pastry counter as well.

CAFÉ LATTE (MYR 9.50)

Tada! A cup of fragrantly brewed coffee from the blend of Java, Columbia and Sumatra beans that provide a balanced yet fuller body from its medium to dark roasting process.

With some homemade biscotti comes readily trademarked! (=

SALTED CARAMEL TART (MYR 10)

At first glance, it nearly fools me into thinking it as a cake. But later do I found out the chocolaty and crusty tart as its name depicts (=

A delectable piece of chocolate treats that comes with uniquely salted cream with Ruby Salt and also the inventive palm sugar meringue. Reckoned it as a remarkable masterpiece that is created passionately and another promising selection other than the ubiquitous Salted Caramel by the mainstream.

Enjoy with a cup of aromatic coffee even though it could be calorie bombs, it somehow feels light enough to be low-guilt pleasures. After all, it’s still a festive season right, on Boxing Day?  (✿◠‿◠)

Backlane Coffee had just commemorated its grand launch on 26th Dec 2014, so am pretty sure this new chilling place will attract more curious cats and eager beavers in the weeks to come. As for me, definitely looking forward to another return when I set foot on
Malacca town again.

Cheers for now and Carpe Diem!
