12th Mar 2015 marks an important date in Simply d’s diary as it was the Grand Launch of the café since its first foray into the F&B industry in late 2014. Jovially held at Avenue K Rooftop with media and bloggers alike, the commemoration evening got friskier with cooking demonstration delivered by Simply d’s CEO, Steve Allen, who had been working with Gordon Ramsay for 11 years previously, together with Chef Hafiz, who delights the crowds with his genuine humor and cordialness.





Some brief info about the tantalizing Simply d:

Simply d is a spin-off from The Delicious Group that serves as a compact version of Delicious concentrating on its bestselling items with the aim to change the public perception about fast food.  Driven by the ever-growing F&B industry in Malaysia, the sheer competitive spirit has brought upon the resourceful motto Simply d- “Simply Fun, Fresh & Tasty”!








This cool idea was actually the brainchild of Delicious CEO, Steve Allen , who got inspired by his unexpected and newly-discovered love for Malaysia culture besides its kaleidoscope of food array influenced by the multi-racial community.





Set forth with a simple and fuss-free menu comprising of Mix-and-Match pasta, burgers and cakes, it encourages the crew to serve a reconceptualized speedy food in the healthier and more inventive way using only fresh and unprocessed ingredients.  So basically, they sorta ‘healthify’ those stereotyped common fast food chain for a better nutritional value.






Chef Steve Allen kicked off the grand launch after a welcome and genial speech on the stage, followed by the stage being transformed into a DIY kitchen for the much awaiting cooking demo.







Can’t wait to watch both dexterous Chefs cooking up a storm at the Discoveria level!

Worry not as the smoke is yet enormous enough to trigger the fire alarm, but may be sufficient enough to titillate you with the aroma that wandered through the air,  hehe.





Salted Egg Pumpkin by Chef Steve Allen
First into the pan was the diced golden pumpkin that is stir-fried with minimal oil till it’s lightly browned, before the rest of the ingredients such as garlics, herbs, mushroom and others are added into the sautéed  potpourri. After the colorful bunch are cooked, it is then spiced up with some hand-crushed salted egg yolk (my fave!) alongside curry leaves and then evenly







Classic Beef Burger from Chef Hafiz
Beef from Australia made into patty and chilled in the fridge for 1 hour before pan fried without oil. To maintain a juicy texture, it’s advisable not to compress the meat while cooking or else it’ll stiffen it.









The minced meat hat have been combined with thymes and other herbs alike, are then manually mixed with egg yolk and some pepper-salt to taste before got wrapped up in a plastic foil and chilled in the fridge to fix the patty shape.





Oh my glorious golden cheddar block! But of course, only a slice would suffice unless you are alright with the sinful calorie bomb, which I don’t mind at times, haha.






Guests of the night were also treated to a scrumptious array of Simply d’s signatures that includes salad, pasta, burgers and some wine or cocktail for those who loved a sip of two of booze to accompany the their repast.











Salad:

Avocado, Herb and Toasted Seeds Salad- with Sweet Chili Dressing







Skewer:

Honey, Soy & Garlic Chicken- tender and succulently juicy!





Pasta style:

Carbonara Fusili with Crispy Turkey Bacon and Tea Egg

Chilli Chicken ‘PastaMee’ with Linguine
Creamy Seafood Marinara Spaghettini with Prawns and Fish Balls

Hence, Simply d is indeed simple, unfussy, fast, fresh and great in value(both monetary as well as nutritionally) but first and foremost, honest and tasty!







It was a fabulous and full of beans night indeed to be able to get to know the team behind Simply d better especially Mr.Steve Allen, who is very humbly down to earth, preaching essentially great teamwork as he believes we are only as good as the person we chop, thus making him approachable to the whole organization. Not forgetting Chef Hafiz who is one laudable manager that walks the talk and is always understanding and tactfully in managing his staff. So it was really great to have known these witty role models that further inspires me and others more!

Hence wait no more and drop by this modern fast dining casual concept café soon! All the food- pasta, sandwich and cakes, are tastily served, fresh and fun at a reasonable price with an emphasis on quick service. And that’s the reason that keeps drawing me back for more!
