LWIN LEE | KAMPACHI BY EQUATORIAL @ PAVILION KL with OPEN SNAP

Japanese cuisine buff would be delighted to learn that Kampachi has just revamped its 8 years’old  menu for a more diversified and finest array of repast especially their famed air-flown sashimi selections, all the way from the brisk Tsukiji market in Tokyo.

In conjunction with the newly revised menu sampling session by Open Snap, our taste buds had been amusingly titillated with the serving of both refined and signature dishes of Kampachi. Not only our tummies were well taken care of, even our phones and Open Snap app followers were instantly ‘feasted’ too, albeit virtually (=

What is Open Snap?
It’s an online dining directory where it acts as a GUI snap guide whenever you’re out of idea of what to dine and a user-friendly platform for sharing your yummy photos with your enthusiastic foodie followers as well. It’s easily downloadable from both Andriod and iOS too with database over 1 million across Asia.

Diners are greeted by a team of amiable staff upon arrival while relishing in Zen ambiance that pervading gently throughout the cozy environment as you walk in further. Accentuated by the opulence setting with a warm lighting alcove, it’s no doubt that Kampachi makes a perfectly grandeur venue for any occasion especially memorable jubilation, business meeting or even just pampering moment with your loved ones.

During the review session, we started off with a pot of salubrious Japanese premium tea which was one of the latest additions to the specialty tea selection, before led of farther with the sumptuous gourmet repertoire.

SMILEY GREEN
Finest Uji Matcha, superior Karigane tea, Genmai tea and noble Hokaido Rishiri Kelp are incorporated into a tasteful composition. This sublime mixture creates a calming and relaxing effect that resembles the usual Genmaicha aroma that I enjoy.

When lanced, the liquid egg yolk flows out, gently spreading over the bowl of assorted fresh seafoods, thickening and enriching it further. Mixed with tororo (blended yam), the bowl of mixed rice is lustrous, with a wasabi undertone and a subtle accent from the seafood sweetness. Capturing the spirit of authentic Japanese cuisine, the oceanic bowl transporst me to a distanct place complete with an exotic sea wonders.

KANPACHI CARPACCIO
An elaborated plate of thinly sliced amberjack with mizuna done the carpaccio way, ended with some crispy garlic crisp.

KAMPACHI SALAD
Enoki mushroom with crispy salmon skin, lotus roots chips, deep-fried white bait served with homemade dressing.

SAKURA EBI & TOROR
Molded in a floral-shaped deep fried Cherry shrimp tempura.

UNAGI SHISO TEMPURA
Lusciously deep-fried eel wrapped with Perilla leaf tempura.

TORI NANBAN SET
Deep-fried chicken cutlet marinated with soy vinegar served with cabbage salad, home-made Japanese style tartar sauce.

SOFT KANI MAKI
Crisply deep-fried soft shell crab roll with fish roe and cucumber.

NINNIKU MESHI
Garlic Fried Rice

Assorted artisanal ice creams to round up the majestic fete. Both white-colored scoops could as well act as a palate cleanser too.

WASABI, GINGER, MATCHA AND GOMA ICE CREAM SPECIAL (MYR 21)
Of all, the wasabi and ginger dollops were much more memorable as the former tasted milkier, hence tamed down the wasabi pungency, whilst the latter tasted much more refreshing as in sorbet texture.

Both matcha and goma-black sesame, are undeniably the all-time winner as far as Japanese deserts are concerned.
