LWIN LEE | RAMEN KANBE ら~めん神戸 @ EMPIRE DAMANSARA
Deviating from the common
Japanese style of heavily pork-flavoured cloudy soup (tonkatsu broth), Ramen Kanbe ops to take the road less
taken by singularizing in a more salubrious way but not compromising on the food
quality per se.
Securing a rather oblivious corner at Empire Damansara, one still get to
feast on the placid environment around it. If you are coming from the main
entrance -Heritage Lane, just proceed straight the main concourse where you
would see a spiral staircase in the middle, walk straight towards the small
lane opening in the front and tada, Ramen Kanbe is just located on your right!
Not that hidden after all right? (=
The grandeur dangling red
chandeliers along with the warm lighting daintily enlivening up the space, thus
creating a very relaxed and comfortable environment for its diners. Coupled
with swift and friendly service easily, it immortalizes a vivid dining
memorably.
Having been in operations
since Feb 2014, Ramen Kanbe is still staying to its root by using only the authentic
custom made soy sauce, all the way brought in from Kobe, Japan. It is said that
this is the key to the deliciousness of their Japanese signatures.
The promise delivered to
you by RAMEN KANBE ら~めん神戸
Soup
Umami is extracted from
vegetables and chicken bones by boiling longer hours. It is a plain type of
soup but it is well-seasoned with body. It is critical for authentic Ramen
serving
Custom made Soy Sauce
Mixed two kinds of
authentically brewed soy sauce, add in high quality kelp from Hokkaido and salt
for good flavor
Noodle
We developed house-made
straight noodle using flour specifically picked for Ramen noodle. It is made
and left for a while at the shop, to serve at the most delicious timing. It has
good texture with springiness and firmness, which will be kept to the end by suppressing
boiling elongation. It contains no artificial colorants, so the noodle only
shows the natural colors reacted by lye water
Topping
Roast pork, Bean sprout,
Leek, Laver, Cloud ear mushroom
Roasted port fillet is
house-made with secret sauce and kelp. It tastes good when fresh from oven, so
we cook it every day
Menu is pretty straightforward, but
sufficient to save you from any headache or indecisiveness when ordering.
Itatatakimas!
WANTAN
RAMEN MYR 21
Strands
of springy ramen noodles served with wantan and slices of roast pork. The fact
that it uses the leaner part of the pork meat delights me in a way- reduce any
guilt when enjoying it as compared to the usual fatty char siew used elsewhere.
PORK
RICE MYR 17
Slices of
tender pork belly nicely pan seared with onions and garlic and served with
their distinctive soy sauce.
SPICY
RAMEN MYR 21
For those
who relish in spice flavour, do enjoy the spicy version of the soup, together
with minced meat of both chicken and pork as well as garlic and chives.
TENSHIN
HAN RICE MYR 15
Signature
menu- steamed rice covered with moist fried egg, topped with special inhouse
made soy sauce to taste. It liberally moist the entire dish delicately!
FRIED
RICE MYR 12
Chef's
special fried rice. Taste bit different from the ordinary ones and slightly
briny to my liking. Go easier on the saltiness and am a happy foodie! (=
Not
forgetting the quintessential snacks of the Land of Rising Sun.
CHICKEN
KARAAGE MYR 10
Boneless
chicken leg meat, marinated in special soy sauce and spices are fried till
crispy. Recommended as appetizer to be paired with beer.
GYOZA
MYR 10
Pan
seared gyoza is very popular back in Japan, also often served as the popular
side dish with ramen. Meaty filling is
decently abounty and I love the juiciness of the Japanese pan-fried dumpling.
Overall, it was a
pleasant session getting familiarize
with this niche hearty repast where the broth taste has been mellowed down in a
gentle way. Diners who fancy lighter and sweet broth over the usual stronger
tonkatsu should really give Ramen Kanbe a try for its distinctive rich and
sweet flavor simmered from the long hours boiling of chicken bone
and vegetable, of course not forgetting
its special homemade soy sauce, and freshly homemade Ramen noodle.
Some Japanese chewies to make up for non-dessert-centric establishment.
Arigato
gozaimasu!
Cheers
for now and Carpe Diem!
