LWIN LEE | SOUKA @ SUBANG JAYA
Located somewhat
disparately along the shop lots opposite Subang Avenue Mall lies this
comfy-projecting and not so old-fashioned bake house that goes by the name of
Souka.
This is their main
headquarter apart from operating another outlet at TTDI neighbourhood. Both are
set to deliver tempting desserts made fresh daily served straight to your plate
or convenient for take away as well.
Well, design wise at
Subang branch exudes more of a chic bake house with some vintage touch as
reflected in its interior décor and wooden furniture set against a warm
ambiance.
Over the weekend, you’ll
be greeted by Fadli, the only barista managing this outlet most of the time
along with few more crews helping at the kitchen, namely Usha and Jamie.
The place is well-kept in
good condition with occasional melodious serenades from the background of the
rather minimalist setting.
Souka is widely known for
dessert place amongst sweet tooth fan who wish to fix that glucose craving with
some homey baked cases. On top of that, a decent selection of hot menu as well
as coffee and tea, are also available for some goodish grubs to complement the
sweet indulgence.
Among the signatures are………
RED VELVET (MYR 10)
The signature cake with generous
heaps of some smooth cream cheese frosting. Less so of the buttermilk fragrance
but compensates with richer rendition of cocoa flavor trail.
BANOFFE PAVLOVA
(MYR 15)
Kinda too creamy to my
liking but the marriage between banana and pavlova at the base still pulls off
decently.
Cupcakes
time!
CHURROS (MYR 8- 5
pcs)
Spanish
dough fried to perfection, coated with cinnamon sugar and served with chocolate
caramel sauce.
COLD CUT SANDWICH
(MYR 14)
Healthy bites of wholemeal
bread lightly toasted before gently sandwiching juicy turkey slice with its
dressing- rather appetizing and toothsome.
LATTE (MYR
10)
A lovely cuppa with robust
aftertaste from the Italian espresso professional- San Remo, using RG beans of
100% Arabica from Brazil.
PINK BLOSSOM
(MYR 15)
It’s actually a joyful
waiting time watching the bundle of flowers slowly blooming out to unleash its
colorful notes.
Drinkable after 3 minutes
of steeping.
Guess that completes our
tete-a-tete moment warmly especially during a sudden heavy downpour that
evening while listening attentively to Fadli’s insightful stories who is so
passionate about coffee that even embark on ‘coffee pilgrimage’ to Melbourne,
Jakarta, Indonesia and soon to Japan. Would love to know more stories from Fadli
too? Just drop by soon and am pretty sure the genial barista would be more glad
then happy to welcome you over an aromatic and freshly brewed java to accompany
throughout the fruitful discourse.
