Dining Hall, a rather familiar term you would associate in your daily life especially if you’re the chef of your house, running the household errands. Why not giving your ‘homey chef’ a break once awhile and pamper him or her with the delicious spread at Dining Hall, located at Bandar Menjalara.





Why Dining Hall? Upon listening to sharing by Ms Tan that this idea is borned from the concept to signify togetherness- a comfy and homey place for everyone and to make everyone feel at home.


Yeah, that’s the idea behind this Western-centric establishments since March 2014 that aims to provide a cozy sanctuary for both families and friends to dine in comfortably and enjoy the food just like their own dining room at home.






Upon walking in, customers would be greeted by the amiable staff and seated accordingly within a cozy environment against a warm and soothing ambiance.









The array of menu is very interesting here, offering a medley of scrumptious toothsome recipes ranging from the wide choices of pasta, myriad selection of Western cuisine that includes grain fed lamb and beef steak to pork chop and seafood dishes to delight your palate.





Food quality is not to be lightly taken over here as only the top-notch and freshest ingredients are used and most of the relish are inhouse made from scratch, which includes long hours of stock boiling to making own dressing and sauce. And one of the notable effort to ensure a healthy and wholesome meal for its patron, Dining Hall uses only extra virgin oil in the food preparation excluding any artificial preservative or seasonings. Wow, how cool is that! Both hands down (=

ROOT VEGETABLE SALAD (MYR 13)
Mixture of various root veggies like crisp fennel and green leafy lettuce toasted with homemade red wine vinaigrette

MUSHROOM SOUP (MYR 13.65)
Slightly thickened chunky mushroom soup with 4 selected mushrooms types, cooked to perfection






SALMON TARTARE (MYR 17.90)
Salmon cured with lemon juice and served on a bed of mixed green lettuce, drizzled with balsamic reduction, extra  virgin oil and sprinkled with sea salt. An interesting alternative to the one I tasted at Purple Pasta before.







COUNTRY STYLE ESCARGOT (Half Dozen- MYR 20.10/ One Dozen MYR 37.10)
Sautéed escargot in white wine garlic creamy sauce, melted mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil and butter, finished off with cheese. 





Nicely dished out toothsome molluscs treat especially if you are a fan of garlicky nosh.




Finally, one of my fave Spanish repast, paella!

SEAFOOD PAELLA (MYR 41.20)
Ocean white prawn, Korean scallop, clam meat and squid meat and rice braised in seafood broth, served in “Hot Mini Wok”


Each grain of Calrose rice is well flavoured with essence from the lobster soup stock and  saffron.









GRILLED BABY LOBSTER SPAGHETTI (MYR 30.60)
Love the bouncy bites and succulent meat from these huge crustaceans!







Cajun spice is sprinkled on lobster upon lightly grilled with butter.
Pasta is served with homemade paste (sautéed bacon bites and garlic till fragrant) resulting in a very robust and addictive taste. It’s so flavourful and you would be surprised to learn that there is no herbs, black pepper or even dried shrimps involved in the preparation, thus reflective of the chef’s convincing years of experience.







CHILLED AUS GRAIN FED TENDERLOIN (MYR 74.05)
Chargrilled Australian loin to your preference of “Doneness” and served with daily potatoes, veggies and demi-glace.











I especially love the white button mushrooms very much! They are pan fried just nice, glazed with some butter for fragrance, hence are darn juicy!







Time to chillax with some refreshing beverages.


ASSORTED FRUIT JUICE (MYR 11.55)
Rehydrate your body with the goodness of apple, celery and orange juice sugar-free fresh juices.





Comes to their fruit smoothie bar- smell and taste good, and not too milky, superb!

In a nutshell, the rendition of table d'hote here are inventively and deliciously crafted with love and passion from Chef Lawrence, who himself is well seasoned with versatile cuisines that reflects in his culinary versatility.


Guess now I’ll be missing the mouthwatering repast and looking forward to another return. Meanwhile, do give Dining Hall a tinkle in case you are planning to throw a special party to  commemorate a special occasion as they do cater for private function.
