LWIN LEE | TICKET TO KOREA @ SETIAWALK, PUCHONG

Gone are the days where majority of Korean establishments that you find in Klang Valley are mostly culturally if not traditionally skewed to conventional Hanjeongshik with the serving of banchan as starter as a prelude to the full course of Korean meal. Well, interestingly, that are not gonna happen at Ticket to Korea but a rather revolutionized and fine-tuned Korean cuisine that has been added with  inventive twist, are awaiting you here.

Run and owned by a lovely young couple who hails all the way from Seoul, Ticket to Korea has been whetting the palate of the local folks here with their many bold and modernized Korean creations since last December at Setiawalk Mall at Puchong. Although Korean restaurants are a dime a dozen presently especially in the vicinity of Hartamas, Mont Kiara and  Ampang, it’s still encouraging to encounter one that takes the craft of cooking earnestly, offering a motley of creativity in their cuisines.

The ever cheerful and  friendly Jeff, with the beautiful Soo

Embarked with simplicity but still exudes some funky chicness  as part of the element, diners would feel at home whenever dining here, thanks to its frills-free interior that is equipped with cozy ambiance, complete with melodious tunes serenading as the background.

While Jeff is busy concocting his cheeky signature mocktail, let’s have a scroll what’s instored for our tummy on that day. We are eager to discover the road less travelled by the mass with this unique Korean casual fine dining.

No banchan (Korean assorted side dishes)? No worries, why not open up your mind and first titillate by these western-inspired snack instead?

 먹겠습니다!!

CHEESE STICKS (MYR 6/PC)
Wrapped with sweet potato and fresh sticky mozzarella cheese, it’s unmistakably gratifying and callin’ out to all cheese fans out there. The outer skin is fried till very crispy but not greasy, armored in a nice golden hue that just melts in your mouth once you start chewing.

CHEESE PORK RIBS (MYR 35 per pax)
Very hot and trendy dish relived from Korea. Savory-sweet chili-based sauce lusciously smothered on the succulent pork ribs, making such a good harmony with mozzarella and cheddar cheese. \아주 맛있었어요!!
** Minimum order is 2pax.

SOUS VIDE PORK BELLY STEAK (MYR 56)
Pork belly cooked in hot temperature for 48 hours then roasted on the grill. Served with fresh mushroom, onions, spring onion and signature BBQ sauce. The meat surface is crisply caramelized, but remained very succulent in the inside. Hardly need to chew it much as the tender meat just flaked off easily.

Alright, seems like Jeff is already geared up with his ade invention, hehe.

COTTON CANDY SODA (MYR 13)
Sweet cotton candy added on top of fruit juice (either cherry or pineapple)
Soda is then poured on the cotton candy to make it melt inside the cup,
Touted as a ‘Must-Buy for your Girlfriend’,- she’ll be easily smittened, trust me (=

APPLE SOJU MOJITO
Superbly refreshing with the minty-lime nuance added with some fruitiness too.

FRESH WATERMELON JUICE (MYR 12.50)
This pinky beverage has since turned me into a huge fan of this milky watermelon juice.

OREO MILKSHAKES (MYR 13.50)
So amiably that Jeff has added 2 scoops of ice cream in it! Therefore, it’s slightly too sweet for me, Hehe^^

Or if you prefer something simpler, on the classic side?

ICED COFFEE (MYR 8.50)
Korean Black Coffee

GREEN TEA

Might sound odd, but the tea filter looks incredibly artistic to me, nearly thought it to be something of a swank neacklace usually wore by hip hop street dancers, hehe

And I thought a Korean ice latte would be equally promising too.

BLACK SESAME LATTE (MYR 14)
After a sip, immediately captured me palatably. It’s a mixture of various powdered grains from Korea as well as black sesame for more added nourishing value.

Not only the black sesame helps to prevent hair loss and aid in developing the brain, it also reduces the cholesterol rate and help to prevent osteoporosis. This caffeine-free latte is not only salubrious, but also tasty. My favourite of all after the soju mojito, highly recommended.

After a quick respite, let’s find out more of the amusing yet lightsome recipes from Soo.

SPICY CHEESE TOPOKI (MYR 45- LARGE)
Spicy flavoured rice cake with ramyeon noodles served with mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Best enjoyed after the cheese got beautifully torched. 맛있다 !!

CHEESE DONKATSU (MYR 30.50)
Donkatsu with massive amount of mozzarella and cheddar cheese, served on the hot metal plate that will tickle any cheese lovers.

KOREAN STYLE SWEET AND SOUR PORK (MYR 69- LARGE)
Fondly known as Tangsuyuk in Korean, this crispy fried pork dipped in sweet and sour sauce, dish is adapted for Korean taste. I particularly got intrigued by the 'white kimchi', where it resembles our familiar German's sauerkraut but tasted refreshingly better, less pungently piquant but well-suited to our Asian taste buds, yum yum!

I must say that it doesn’t surprise me initially, but things got changed after taking a bite of the juicy meat cutlet, nicely breaded in special inhouse batter that poses some intriguing velvety amidst the crispiness and not oily too. The batter are slightly chewy yet crispy, it’s interesting and kinda hard to explain so best is to give it a try guys. For me, i simply love it to the max! Thumbs up! (=

HOMEMADE BURGER of THREE PATTIES (BEEF and PORK)
And last but not least, it's prime time to welcome the mammoth staple of our Western's fave. This tower-tall burger is constructed of 3 homemade meat patties, egg, hashbrown, pineapple, veggies, cheese and bacon, if that's still not enough, which i doubt so, hehe, accompanied by fries.

Due to its complexity and time-consuming preparation, it's best to call up and reserve earlier so your gigantic and satisfying burger is delivered on time and you and your partner in crime could chomp down the burger joyfully and yummily, not to worry about any aftermath mess as it's gonna be a beautiful one (=

It's so huge that it can cover up my face- if you're wondering how big it can be, haha...

Soon, it’s time for some fascinating dessert that is yet a common scene here.

Funnel cake, heard of it? (=
A classic plate comes with cinnamon flavour from MYR 22 to MYR 28, varies according to different topping).

A dense one served warm. Relatively healthy, not as cloyingly sugary as versions elsewhere.
Or to have a supreme indulgence, opt for this yummy lill’ creature! Not scary but quite a cutie pie, albeit a huge one, hehe.

VARIETY MONSTER (MYR 32)
It kinda astounds us when it first got ushered out.  Never crossed my mind to have my dessert this special way; not fluffy nor soft texture like your usual cakes. As its saucy name suggested, this piece of artfully woven pancake comes accompanied by chocolate, marshmallow and ice cream. Sweet tooth fans looking for some refreshing twist in their otherwise boring and plain pancake, ought to give this funky dessert a try.

It has never been this easier to get yourself a boarding pass for a Korean epicurean journey over here at Ticket to Korea, as well as meeting some cheerful souls of Korean chingus (friends in Hangeul) such as passionate Jeff and Soo.

So remember to fly by Ticket to Korea whenever you are nearby, and am pretty sure, you and your companions would be equally touched by the hospitality of the owners, on top of their special crafted dishes borned from the fusion culinary marriage. One word, simply DAEBAK!!

Ah ah, ladies (and also boys), don’t forget to ask for Chef Soo’s recommendation on which best mask is currently a hit in Korea. Who knows you might get yourself a great deal with Soo’s advice.

At the point of reviving my memory in words now, I can’t wait to be back again for its other delicious and bounteous temptation. 식사를 아주 맛있게 먹었습니다 !!

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries!  ❤ℒѵ

    1. Really Yuki? Hi-5 too!
But actually the other white kimchi (homemade sauerkraut) is awesome too. Not too sour nor pungent as German style, but added with some crisp juiciness too, yum yum :)
