HANA CAFE 하나카페 @ TANJUNG BUNGAH, PENANG
Finally, found some
time to pen down the many pending personal posts that we stumbled upon while
casually hanging out in search for new inspiration so called. And one of the conglomerative stacks of ‘foodo-graphy’ actually comes
from Penang, hehe.
It always feels good
to see that the coffee scene over here in The Pearl of Orient is no longer
growing but already blooming instead, from time to time whenever am back to the
whimsical homeland of mine.
Of course, apart from
spending quality time with family this trip back home, it’s also meant to be a
bonding session with hometown comrades (with two April birthday babies to be
celebrated too coincidentally), and I think no harm including some brief (or
rather maximizing the time as best could^^) visits to those new cafes in town.
But first, how come I
end up at a Hallyu café in a city of nowhere Korean wave is as apparent as back
in the KL city?
Well, long story cut
short, as Garfield drove by with the initial plan to either heading to Penang
Hillside vicinities or just drop me off at
some foreign places to get me stranded, I chanced upon this Hangul-bearing
board, and tada, that’s it! Curiosity seems to always gets the better of me :D
Hana
Café seems to be better
known for its Korean Fried Chicken and bingsu among the locals here. The menu
is very straightforward, offering these signatures alongside other beverages
like coffees and juices.
As it’s already 10pm
that night, so going light is the best plan. Hence, a milky cuppa with bingsu-
not too bad a combo huh? ^^
While waiting for the
bites to arrive, I had a fast look around and saw a huge Teddy sitting comfortably
at the coach! I think he’s kinda lonely, so I left my coffee to keep him
occupied for awhile, hehe.
Basically, the
interior revolves around wooden furniture to exude that vintage feel. And with
that Teddy around, it somehow reminds me of the famous Korean drama, “Gong”-
Princess Hours.

Alright, perhaps its
presentation wise might need some tweak, the ice flakes are fine and smooth though,
instantly melt upon getting into the mouth. The red beans help to add some
sweetness to the soya-infused mountains, sprinkled with the mungbean-taste
powder, yum yum!
Having said that, I still
prefer the version by Hanbing for
the more indulgence of injeolmi.
The place offer al
fresco, bright dining as well as some warm corner for intimate chattering.
After that quick
lazing with Teddy, we finally made a move to Lotus for the latest movie by
Batman vs Superman, as so, so much anticipated and highly recommended by
Garfield, despite the movie actually seems tad lukewarm, even The Allegiant and
13- Hours are way better! :D
Oh, just in case you’re
still wondering who and where does this Garfield comes from, it’s just the
perfect sobriquet given to that buddy for the everlasting, second to none
cheeky statements of all time. Ask everyone around him, surely a unanimous affirmation
thou shall receive (=
