Silverspoon Kitchen & Bar-
a brand new, chic restaurant that has just sprouted up early of this April to
tickle the taste buds of the Selayang folks here. Located at the new mall of
Emerald Avenue, this chic restaurant offers guests a wide selection of West-meet-East
as well as some Mediterranean dishes with the dining option of either al
fresco, enjoying the cool wind that comes brushing by your cheek occasionally
or indulge in the comfort of air conditioned premises.
Having
opened its first outlet at Bandar Manjalara since year 2012, Silverspoon’s menu
is appealingly crafted by the affable Chef Ken while currently the kitchen team
at Emerald Avenue’s branch is helmed by Chef Lai and its laudable customer
service-centric team.
We
were first introduced to their signature mocktails which instantly served as
the perfect thirst quenchers especially during such scorching hot weather of
late.
RED POME (MYR 12)
Grenadine,
lemon, pomegranate and tonic water
CITRUSY SLIDE (MYR 12)
Honey,
lemon, mint leaves and oranges
My
vote goes for this for its refreshing zest that woke me up with is minty gusto.
BAKED ESCARGOT (MYR 23)
Baked
in double cream and garlic herbs butter served with toasted bread.
Obviously
not your average, traditionally baked garlic-butter escargot but equally
tempting and promising too. Cream used is not too heavy but added just nice to
give that smooth and light cheesy-like coating for that spectacular degustation.
Highly recommended.
ORIENTAL SMOKED DUCK (MYR 29)
Smoked
duck, hoisin sauce, pickled apple and mozzarella cheese- an inventively twisted
Italian bakes with Oriental elements.
Delectable
thin crust pizza dough served with slices of succulent, juicy smoked duck with
special relish of hoisin sauce that greets you with its unique tang.
CLASSIC CARBONARA (MYR 21)
Fettuccine
pasta with double cream, parmesan cheese, Turkey ham and poached egg.
The
egg was nicely poached, wobbly inviting fork to poke through it, unleashing the
golden yolk flow. This would be a good choice for those who usually shun off
from carbonara due to its thick creaminess which this classic candidate here
poses the contrary- light and savoury with the chewy turkey ham.
CLASSIC FISH AND CHIPS (MYR 20)
Homestyle
fish fillet dipped in crispy batter and served alongside fries, aioli and lemon
wedges.
Two
generous seabass were lightly coasted and deep fried till golden brown. Crunchy
on the exterior with flaky texture within. Would be great if the meat is juicier.
For
some dips and chips, snackers could go for this delightful nosh.
SALT AND PEPPER SQUID (MYR 20)
Breaded
squid with salt and pepper coated with flour. Makes a nice light bites with
minimal seasonings.
CLASSIC CREME BRULEE (MYR 12)
Rich
custard base topped with layer of crispy caramel that is perfectly browned.
Guess
lady’s luck was on our side that afternoon as coincidentally,S Chef Ken was
also in the house. Although looking tad exhausted after having just touched
down from Australia the night before, Chef Ken is still very hospitable and insisted
to personally make us the scrumptious, Italian dessert. The gustatory
experience under this skillful maestro- superbly terrific in spades!
Silverspoon
also caters for corporate events, wedding functions and other celebrations, all
within the cozy confine of their modern contemporary Emerald Ballroom that accommodates
up to 600 pax at a time. Should guests opt not to engage with external caterers,
