NEW MENU: MAZESOBA | HAKATA IPPUDO RAMEN @ BANGSAR SHOPPING VILLAGE (BSC)

Shortly after the introduction of new menu; Karaka-men the night before at The Gardens Mall, our taste buds was again amusingly tickled at its BSC’s outlet with another new kid of the block- Mazesoba!

There is more vintage feels at its Bangsar outlet, with ample choices when booze comes into mind.

Now that this reminds me of the sparkling sake of Hochikubai Mio and Gekkeikan that i had tried at Tsubohachi つぼ八 Hokkaido Izakaya and Izakaya Kushi Raku respectively previously

 Hochikubai Mio

 Gekkeikan

A unique rendition of dry ramen that is enjoyed by mixing in the assorted ingredients that served together in a bowl.

Brief notes about Ippudo……….
IPPUDO ramen is fuelled with innovation. With ramen of the highest quality, hospitable service with attention to detail and unique ambience, IPPUDO aims to create an exquisite and delightful ramen dining experience for its customers throughout the world. Having founded by Shigemi Kawahara dubbed as the Ramen King 3 times consecutively between 1995-1998,he also created his very own “Tao,” or way, of ramen. His philosophy “To continuously innovate to remain true”, is to keep reinventing in the kitchen; redefining recipes for a dish that emerged over 300 years ago. Kawahara’s reinvention of the Hakata-style tonkotsu (pork-based) ramen with its signature delicate, creamy broth, earned IPPUDO its global acclaim.

MANGO SALAD (MYR 29.50)
Diced mango served with assorted vegetables, croutons, diced salmon tossed in yuzu dressing and finished up with saffron chili. The cubes of croutons were a bunch of delightful bites as it’s not that conventionally prepared- lightly seasoned with salt, basil and pepper to taste, thumbs up!

AMAEBI TARTAR (MYR 34)
Sweet shrimp served with diced avocado and wasabi dressing topped with tobiko

The fresh amaebi in wasabi shoyu nearly tricks me into thinking it as cerviche (=

CHICKEN NANBAN (MYR 16)
Marinated deep fried chicken served with homemade tartar sauce. The vinegar sauce underneath was especially delightfully tangy!

SEAFOOD FOIL YAKI (MYR 39.50)
Steamed seafood platter: mussels, shrimp, squids and scallops served with spicy ponzu and assorted vegetables on hot plate

SALMON SUSHI MORIAWASE (MYR 44)
A complete salmon sushi platter with juicy ikura, salmon cut and aburi salmon

House sake paired with sushi- indeed the perfect companion!

MAZESOBA (MYR 28)
Ippudo’s  first “Japanese Styled Mixed Ramen” served with thick chewy noodles and 9 uniquely selected complimentary ingredients that includes spicy minced pork . A rich and flavorful taste that leans towards savory palate, with a hint of spiciness.

Also served with gyoza in tonkatsu broth.

And dinner would not be pleasantly complete without something sweet to close the evening

WATERMELON SHERBET (MYR 19)
Homemade sherbet served with cheese cake and pineapple preserved.
The cheesecake came with a delectable nuance, neither too dense nor soft, and indulgenly satisfying. Looks somewhat like pineapple compote to me, the yellow dices subtly balances out the sourness of the strawberries

As Ippudo’s belief; Ramen is, indeed, cosmos served in a bowl, the delicate balance of ingredients, broth and finely-made noodles is an art form in itself. The ramen chef, on the other hand, is like a consummate story-teller in the kitchen whose culinary adeptness warrants a great, scrumptious bowl of springy, freshly made ramen.

Just like how Ippudo stays firmly all the while to its maxim- “To continuously innovate to remain true”.
