I AM 80S CAFÉ @ SS4, PETALING JAYA

Looking at the catchy and kinda nostalgic name, those of you who are from the Generation Y could relate to it pretty much. After all, the era of 80’s does bring bout many hip hop hits as well as rock n’ rock scores to keep you in high-spirit notes and also injecting joie de vivre in your life right? Hehe…………

It feels good to be back to the good ol' days within the cozy confine of this vibrant yet chic hideout- lively and passionately designed by the aesthetic-lover Dong, who is also the man behind the delicious spread freshly prepared in the kitchen.

Prior to this, Executive Chef Dong has been heading the regional F&B team for Full House café for over 7 years before deciding to realize his own dreams of an unparalleled café that embraces the idea of ‘culinary knows no boundaries’ where one could really enjoy their meal however they like regardless of conventional rigid recipes.

Not much of an idea on what to expect? Then make sure you stay with us till the end as we were successfully got a “gotcha” from one of its cheeky order, lolz (=

Let’s be more playful as we get it started off, shall we? ^^

80’S DOG FOOD (MYR 24)
Mashed potato, fries, mozzarella cheese and sausage gravy- a simple, yummy finger food as you snack while waiting the mains to be delivered.

SMOKED DUCK PESTO (MYR 24)
Homemade pesto sauce, smoked duck breast and shitake mushroom.

Being an ardent fan of all herbs and pesto paste, I certainly find this homey plate a delightful one and I love how the sauce nuance is calibrated together with the aromatic sautéed mushrooms.

CREAMY SMOKED SALMON PASTA (MYR 28)
Creamy white sauce with smoked salmon and ebiko
Another highlight of the day that boasts a toothsome grub and al dente pasta lightly tossed in a creamy base with tasty smoked salmon, before topped up exuberantly with addictive ebiko and loads of nutritious arugula, thumbs up!

BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN CHOP (MYR 24)
Charcoal grilled, garden veggie, roasted potatoes and black pepper raisin
This is one the perfect candidate to attest the saying of “Simplicity at its best”!
Staying true to classics!

Not only the meat is tender and succulent, the flavours are also well permeated throughout the cut, rendering it a very hard-to-resist plate!

80’S SIGNATURE (MYR 95 for 4-5 pax)
Roasted ½ chicken, chicken, wedges, 12” chicken sausage, BBQ chicken sausage, fish & chips, sweet corn, hashbrown, breaded shrimp roll, garden salad, pesto bread and served along BBQ sauce and tartar sauce.

A perfect party platter for everyone to share around the table! Even it’s said to be ideal up to 5 pax, there’s an occasion where the platter was actually polished up by 2 ladies! You got to be kidding! But no, I’m not, it’s affirmed by Dong unbelievably!

The homemade French bread is spread with inhouse prepared pesto sauce, similarly used in the Pesto Pasta earlier, savory and springy huge chicken bratwurst, crispy but not oily prawn tempura, juicy fish fillet and also my fave dish companion- sweet pulpy  corns as well as potato wedges!

As curiosity gets the better of me, so I decided to call upon “No Idea” to try out, albeit the rest of the group is tad reluctant, fearing what’s “greens” gonna appear; as I’m known for a big fan of anything green like matcha and luicha, haha- no thanks to the buddies around who crowned me such an honorable, green with envy coronation, haha (=

Spot on!

80’S NO IDEA (MYR 23)
Surprise!!
It’s some sort of a casual westernized omakase affair with a touch of playful twist to it. So this is the “gotcha” we hinted earlier on, hehe.

So………….when the dish finally greeted us mysteriously with the lid still intact, we were already filled with bewilderment, wondering what could it be? Hence, I proceed to open it up and true enough, I was quite stunned as how to respond other than “no idea” when one of the buddy ask me eagerly, what’s it? And laughters ensued thereafter, haha……

The surprise NO IDEA-of-the-day is actually a cheesy seafood pasta composed of baby octopus (my fave- daebak!), mussels and springy prawns in a light but tantalizing kimchi-based sauce. Certainly masshisoyo! Now that this reminds me of my another all-time comfort food of Creamy Kim from Ampersand (=
Alright, time for some dessert to sum up the feast lusciously!

DANCING IN THE PAN (MYR 20)
Warm bread pudding with chocolate and vanilla sauce. You just can’t go wrong with it right? Hehe…….

Also, not forgetting the house special beverages too!

80’S MILK TEA, COFFEE & KOPI- O (MYR 10 each)

MIXED BERRIES & DRAGON FRUIT (MYR 16)

BLUEBERRY & RED BERRY YOGURT (MYR 16)

PEACH MANGO WITH MAGIC BALL (MYR 14)

MANGO ORANGE BASIL SEED (MYR 14)

I AM 80’s aims to serve up a tantalizing rendition of fusion grubs that’s of premium quality yet can be enjoyed at an affordable price. So come to try and find out yourself today! As for me, I’ll be anticipating No Idea in my every revisit soon cause it’s simply so hard to resist from guessing what’s special dish of the day! (=

Private enclave for private events is also available too
