SHINMAPO KOREAN BBQ- 마포갈매기@ SS15 COURTYARD

Shinmapo- Mapo Galmaegi, touted as Korea’s No.1 BBQ restaurant has finally launched its first flagship in Malaysia at the newly refurbished lifestyle mall of SS15 Courtyard at Subang Jaya.

Hence, Korean cuisine buff can now locate it easily and enjoy the many tantalizing BBQ dishes by this Galmaegisal specialist conveniently without the hassle having to fly all the way to Korea.

안녕하세요!!
Anyeonghaseyo!!

Well known for their luscious barbequed pork galmaegisal or more familiarly known as skirtmeat, this long and prized slab is well treasured for its flavor as this unique premium cut is only found between the ribs and the belly of a pig that weighs about 200 to 250g on average in every full grown pig.

Comes in 3 marinades- Spicy, Salty and Original, they are best paired with garlic, green chili and special sauce for ultimate enjoyment.

Greeting us first was the 반찬, (banchan-Korean side dishes) once seated. The crisp kimchi and the vibrant salad were especially refreshing and made good appetizers before we dive into the main meaty grubs!

The Shinmapo Ultimate Set comes at MYR 128 which is ideal for 2 to 4 pax and consists of a 200g Pork Skirt Meat (Galmaegisal), 200g Pork Belly (Samgyeopsal), 200g Marinated Pork Collar (Moksal-my fave!), 1 piece of marinated Pork Rind (Dwaeji ggupdaegi), Kimchi Egg Ring crust, Mix Grilled Seafood Platter and Military Stew (Bbudae Jjigae).

Dwaeji ggupdaegi (돼지 껍데기)

Love the pork skin’s jelly-like texture and best eaten by dipping it with injeolmi (soybean poweder-oh yeah, my fave too!) for that uber nutty but subtle richness! At some point of time, the injeolmi taste somehow does transform into mild, addictive peppery flavor which kinda astounds me toothsomely in a way. Masshisoyo!

To top it off, we also tried 2 ala cartes namely the Fist Rice (MYR 22) and the Volcano Fried Rice (MYR 25).

We indeed have fun moulding the rice balls ourselves under the effective guidance of their chef, 수고하세요 ! ㅋㅋㅋ…………

Seoul Train Soju Bomb - the perfect way to end the feast!

Shinmapo’s Seoul Train Soju Bomb set comes with a bucket of beer (Tiger Beer or Heineken  for MYR105 and for MYR120 respectively) and 2 bottles of Soju that can serve up to 25 cups of soju bombs!

Let's toast for happiness and prosperity to come!

All the happy faces of satisfied tummies ^_^

Currently Shinmapo- the new Mapogalmaegi has more than 500 BBQ restaurants worldwide across 11 countries with more than 430 shops in Korea itself! Being an all-time avid fan of Korean food, we were certainly delighted to be able to relish in these authentic meaty serving of 한국 음식 (Hanguk eumsik) and one of the first batch to experience the sumptuous dining freshly prepared and served by the behind-the-serious-looking-but-affable Korean Executive Chef- Chef Choi and Chef E.J. 감사합니다 !!

Being a specialist in Galmaegisal, you won’t go wrong with their forte of succulent meaty fiesta which left you hooked on for another return. So remember to check it out soon guys!
