GANGNAM OPPA BBQ - 강남 오빠 @ UPTOWN, DAMANSARA UTAMA

Every now and then, I’ll definitely be craving for some toothsome fix on Korean food craving especially my fave kimchi jigae and samgyeopsal. As such, there it is- 강남 오빠 BBQ! (But please, don’t mistaken it for the cheeky Oppa Gangnam Style track that has swept the whole globe by storm, hehe)

This cozy corner shop lot located at Uptown is run by a humble Korean family who yearns to serve up authentic and homey cuisine that includes deliciously barbequed meat feast, just like what they would enjoy back in their hometown.

Set in both al fresco as well as air conditioned dining space, Gangnam Oppa BBQ offers assorted grilled poultry (beef, chicken and pork), along its other yummy ala carte dishes such as stew plates of soup, noodles, pancake and others. For booze fans, makgeoli and maekju are also available in the menu.

So we started off that relaxing weekend with the promotional dinner menu- GANGNAM FAMILY SET (MYR 119) that is suitable for 4-6 pax in a group. Choose from either Beef Sirloin, or Grilled Beef Short Rib, Pork Belly, Marinated Pork, Baby Octopus and choose 1 from Soft Tofu Stew, Soybean Stew or Kimchi Stew.

One of the specialty is the marinated pork and grilled beef short ribs that has been brilliantly and zestily marinated with 4 types of fruits, namely kiwi, pineapple, apple and pear. Now you know why the youthful Koreans are well known for taking good care of the well beings- they really emphasis lots on natural healings and remedies. Good to know that!

I love the thicker meat served here, more texture and pleasant bites- they are one of the most generous Korean sajangnim thus far in the gastronomic town. Even my partner in crime also commended such and that’s the reason we already went back for the second round while this blog is still in the progress, hehe.

Don’t worry, you won’t end up walking out the restaurant smelling ‘yummily’ with BBQ smell as the air is very well-ventilated by the commercial exhaust hood that is set up at each table with the respective installation of silver BBQ grate in the centre of each table. So, relax and enjoy……………

Not to forget enjoying their refillable, splendid banchan that is simply lovely! My personal pick? Has always been the sweet potato and sesame oil-dressed wilted spinach, yum!

Moving on next it the OPPA SET (MYR 56) ideal for 2-3 pax. This would allow you to choose 2 portion from Pork Belly, Spicy Belly, Pork Shoulder or Marinated Pork and 1 set of stew from the above same range.

Eating at hanguk shitang, I’m sure not gonna leave without having a bites of their seaweed-inundated SPICY RICE BALL (MYR 19)! I really love seaweed darnnnnnnn much! I don’t mind to have it mountain-high! Hehe…………….

Put on your glove and mould it to the shape that you want- should you prefer the unorthodox shape (= And then, lightly grilled it for some crispiness on the outside.

It’s bit crunchy on the exterior, sauce are evenly mixed and engulfed with the fragrance of seaweed. The spiciness level can be adjusted if you can’t tolerate high SHU like me, haha..

Equally tantalizing with the Fist Rice had at Shinmapo previously.

Then down the feast with some cooling HITE BEER! Currently is running special promotion at MYR 33 for 5 cans! Perfect for the convivial of the reunion! 건배! Cheers!

Or ganbae more like Koreans- Soju Bomb!
A voluptuous chemistry reaction when Beer and Soju meets, resulting in a bubbly concontion that is sweet and easier to drink than on their respective own, hehe.

The maiden experience of Seoul Train Soju Bomb at Shinmapo , still remain vividly till now, for  we really had lots of fun!

Even these 3 musketeers of makgeoli steal the show too, especially the Banana flaovur. It doesn’t taste bitterish like alcohol at all, more like yogurt drink that so easy on the throat. So be caution about that- drink moderately, hehe. Each is yours at MYR 23.

And patrons who checked in Gangnam Oppa BBQ Facebook when dining here will get a complimentary Steamed Egg too! Kamsahamnida sajangnim! Be hurry to redeem it by 30th November 2016.

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
