XO FISH HEAD NOODLE | 冠华XO鱼头米 @ GOON WAH RESTAURANT, DAMANSARA JAYA

It’s been sometime since I last came to Damansara Jaya scouting for food previously at Atria Mall, namely at Tea Verandah for some soothing tête-à-tête session, Nosh Up for the tasty fusion as well as all-time fave Korean snack, PelicanaChicken after Honey Chicken Wings from Kyochon.

Coincidentally, we were going to catch Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children at Tropicana GSC at night time, so this time round we dropped by XO Fish Noodle for some simple, quick Chinese food outside of the mall since we couldn’t decide what to eat even after a brief touring in the mall earlier per se, haha.

So we went for the signatures……………and concluded with some mixed feedbacks:D

FAMOUS FOR ITS CLAYPOT XO FISH HEAD NOODLES (MYR 14.90)
Touted as the famous pot here- the noodles reminds me of ‘lai fan’ aka laksa noodle served in a tangy broth of pickled veggie taste. However, the fried fish fillet appeared tad too dry and hard, and the same goes to the noodles that seems to be cooked too fast as it was served pretty quickly after our order. Nevertheless, the soup is refillable.

KONG NAM MEE (MYR 13.90)
I though it should be pretty standard when it comes to Kong Nam style noodle where seafood is a prerequisite, along with some slices of meat and juicy prawns with fried yee mee. Surprisingly half way through, I saw something like vegetarian ‘char siew’ mock meat as part of the ingredient too. Then we start to think whether this is a version for the vegan folks, BUT, they have meat slices in it, hmmmmm………………. Overall, the taste bit too bland and lack of any wok hei in the gravy, which is pretty let down to me personally.

FRIED GUINESS STOUT CHICKEN WINGS (MYR 11.90- SMALL | 4 PCS)
Luckily this somehow made up the day. Meat was tender and succulently marinated with its sweet sauce that nicely coat the outer layer.

FU CHUK BARLEY (MYR 3.50)
And some homey ‘tong shui’ a.k.a. Chinese dessert to warm the soul.

Will there be another return? Erm, I’m not too sure about that but don’t foresee it any time near soon :D

  1. Anti Fog Bopp Film Manufacturers films have changed the game for food packaging since they keep items visible in all kinds of weather. Perfect for perishable goods like meats, fresh vegetables, and pre-cooked foods, these coatings keep condensation at bay within the container. More and more, manufacturers are utilising this technology to make their products more appealing and extend their shelf life.
