ELEPHANT ROCKS & ELEPHANT COVE @ WILLIAM BAY NATIONAL PAR
The Elephant Rocks is just about merely 10 minutes or less
on foot from the Greens Pool beach
which was adjacently located. Just that you need to be bit careful when
climbing up the rather gradually sloping rounded rock boulders that are stained
by Mother Nature throughout time.
Those elephant rocks are incredibly shaped themselves, standing
on the beach and gazing out upon the Great Southern Ocean while towering above
you as you enter the cove giving you a sense of perspective.
Otherwise, you may go back up to the tar-coated road above
when you park the car and walk safely from there on. As we were left without
much time before the full sunset that would turn the whole place into a pitch
dark area, so we opted for this short cut but still rather a safe one. However,
during rainy days you might want to avoid threading the boulders and use the
proper road and as these rocks would be slippery when it’s wet.
So as we accessed the staircase at Greens Pool which
descends between the rocks and ends in a beachy rock-crevasse, that allowed us
to walk between the rocks and out onto the beach. We then walked around the
rocky headland to the west until it merged with the Elephant Cove path.
Do those rocks remind you of some animals- elephant?
Yeah, hence the name! Hehe…
As it name suggests, Elephant Rocks looks exactly like a
herd of elephants, paddling in the shallow waters and enjoying it in a degage manner.
It’s definitely a popular spot and must-visit whenever you are in the South
Coast for the beautiful Denmark.
So the giant rocky elephants standing together and facing
into the waves of the Great Southern Ocean bravely.
Elephant Cove is alive with some creatures are built-in to
their surroundings such as this astoundingly coloured crab, blending almost
perfectly into a water-filled crack in the rocks.
This enclave is certainly another beautiful resident of the South
West Coast apart from the mesmerizing Wind Mill Farm in Albany too.
