MIRROR LAKES @ EGLINTON VALLEY, NEW ZEALAND
Moving on into our sixth day after the memorable and
whimsical stay at Hermitage Hotel Mt.Cook directly facing the
majestic Mount Aoraki, we were bound to
head for Te Anau town in preparation for our Milford Sound cruise. So yeah,
definitely anticipating it very much!
Before we checked out from YHA Queenstown Lakefront Backpackers. earlier in the
morning, we had our DIY breakie in a jiffy- instant soup and High
Country Salmon
fresh salmon sashimi that we took away the day before on the way back along
Aorangi Highway from Glentanner.
While Pillow had its usual Black, I enjoy my hot cocoa!
Some Cheetos- just in case i got hungry in between, hehe |
While enroute, we stopped by Highway Café for a quick caffeine fix.
It was quite a calm shop to
chill out but since we’re rushing for the cruise, so we better not got
ourselves over relaxing then, hehe. The morning weather was very cold that day
to be honest. Hence, that explained why I’m cladding in the thick grey hoodie
of his, LOLz…..
Lots of sheep greeted us along the way too.
Soon we reached out destination at YHA Te Anau.
Unfortunately, weather was tad gloomy- made me felt
how much I missed the sunlight. Otherwise it would be perfect in shedding some
warmth to the many beautiful flower pots at the garden.
Without further ado after leaving our luggage at the
information counter safely (we’re ahead of the checking in time btw) we headed
out chop-chop as the journey to Milford Sound requires about 2 hours’ journey.
So better hurry up!
Passed by the famous Mirror Lakes at Eglinton Valley’s beech forest and took a few fast
snapshots.
It would give a crystal clear breathtaking reflection on
a still day of the Earl mountain ranges opposite.
State Highway 94 was the popular stop
for tour buses on route to Milford Sound.
State Highway 94 passes through the Homer Tunnel, linking Milford Sound to
Te Anau and Queenstown, by piercing the Darran Mountain range at the Homer
Saddle
Prior entering a pitch-dark tunnel, met some rather aggressive
looking birds with sharp beaks- yeah, I was bit nervous actually, hehe.
We then enroute to Mitre Peak Milford Sound Cruise
quickly.
