NGUYEN’S @ 163 RETAIL PARK, MONT KIARA

Speaking of good Vietnamese flair doesn’t really come as common as other cuisine here, especially within the vicinity of Mont Kiara which is more dominated by Korean and other modern cuisine. What’s more a rather inventive Thai-Vietnamese fusion?

And this is what you could expect from this intriguing restaurant of Nguyen’s that also has its interior chicly designed with dark teal theme mellowed by pinkish hues while incorporating various vibrant neon.

The kitchen team is currently stewarded by a seasoned chef who hails from Vietnam himself, thus ensuring its diners a scrumptious array of Vietnamese food. Working hand in hand simultaneously is also a maestro of Thai culinary art, promising guests a delectable fusion dining experience at Nguyen’s.

Nguyen’s Signature Pork Chop Noodles (MYR 19)
Luscious plate of springy egg noodles topped with fragrant fried minced pork, crispy lard, spring onion and whole slab of pork chop. Personally this is my favourite dish as I have a yen for lean meat as well as nicely tossed dry noodles with its corresponding condiments. It was flavorfully marinated, tender in each bites.

Lemongrass Pork (MYR 16)
Generous serving of pork slices stir-fried in lemongrass, turmeric and Vietnamese fish sauce, and topped off with a sunny side-up atop a bed of warm fragrant rice. Another enjoyable fuss-free grub!

Signature Crabmeat with Curry (MYR 39)
Seemingly humble in presentation but tasted stellar in execution. Never know that scrambled eggs can go pretty well with crabmeat in curry without drowning the oceanic sweetness.

Nguyen’s Chicken Wings (3 pcs- MYR 12)
Succulent chicken wings fried in traditional Vietnamese fish sauce- no wonder it’s extraordinarily juicier and much flavourful.

Nguyen’s Summer Rolls (3 pcs- MYR 12)
Minced chicken and vegetables  wrapped in rice paper and deep fried till golden brown. Comparatively to the usual denser popiah skin, I prefer this rice paper version for its lighter and fluffier version.

Nguyen’s Viet Rolls (2 pcs- MYR 12)
For the purist, here is the healthier version of the non-fried iconic roll wrapping fresh prawns, rice vermicelli, vegetables and herbs.

Nguyen’s Signature Stew Pork Knuckle (MYR 26)
A delicious meaty stew in soy sauce together with herbs and spices. Perfect with a bowl of white rice.

Here comes the nation’s pride daily staple of ‘Pho’ a.k.a. Rice Noodles.
Quality imported Australian beef has been Nguyen’s choice in creating supreme broth by long-hours simmering with Vietnamese traditional herbs and spices.
Each Pho is served with Vietnamese seasonal vegetables on the side.

Australian Beef Pho Ribeye Slice (MYR 26)

Australian Beef Pho Beef Slice (MYR 21)

Handmade Beef Balls Pho (MYR 21)

Beef Banh Mi (MYR 13)
A popular street food born out of French-Vietnamese influence. This hybrid sandwich comes in a freshly baked Vietnamese baguette accompanied by various seasoned meats (also available in chicken and pork), pickled carrots, cucumbers, capsicum and cilantro.

Nguyen’s Signature Beef Noodles (MYR 19)
Stir-fried Australian beef with onions, fresh romaine, slices of carrots and cucumbers with bean sprouts. Served with Vietnamese vermicelli, peanuts sprinkles and dash of traditional sauce for some spicy kick.

How to give Vietnamese Coffee and Tea a miss?

Nguyen's Speciality Traditional Vietnamese Coffee (Hot/Cold- MYR 8/10)

Nguyen's Signature Cooling Tea (MYR 8)
Love the subtle sweetness of this lemongrass drink.

Milk Tea (MYR 8)
