LWIN LEE| WICHDAY CAFE @ CONNAUGHT, CHERAS
Much have been said or seen in this current wave of café burgeoning trend that captures the heart of many coffee aficionados as well as dessert lovers particularly. But have you come across a dessert fusion café that allows sweet tooth to bask in their faves gleefully without being much guilt-ridden of the calories nor any artificial preservatives yet palatably reassuring? Then Wichday Cafe is one new establishment that you should check out especially if you are also a huge fan of toastie and waffle for all the ingredients are made from scratch, enchanted with some secret recipes too.
Ah, not forgetting their arrays of zesty renditions too.
Ah, not forgetting their arrays of zesty renditions too.
Having been operating for more than 6 months now, Wichday Cafe has been a popular spot amongst the Taman Connaught folks, especially the café enthusiasts, who also occasionally chosen this venue to hold special occasions like birthday parties, anniversary celebrations or just a pure casual catch up. The location is pretty strategic I would say for it’s just opposite the famous and longest “Taman Connaught Night Market”. Or more easily of describing it, it’s the same row of Kanpai Japanese BBQ eatery, just further down the road about 500m or so.
Started off from the initial idea of creating a comfortable sandwich bar, hence the brand got its name such way, “Wichday Cafe” which means guests could drop by to enjoy healthy eating anytime and any days.
This beautiful café is the brainchild of two lovely sisters that aims to provide a gemütlich avenue for its guests to indulge joyfully with awesome and honest grubs. And by the way, the café is also children-friendly, so both parents and kids will find themselves relishing gayly with sweet treats and also mouth-watering dishes like pasta and many more.

Upon entering the dainty café, guests are instantly greeted with a gush of vibrant aura that is also ‘bewiching’ with the lively green theme (=
Alright, so not to get ourselves too engrossed with all the endearing plushy knickknackeries, let’s kick start the brunch of the day!
Am truly thrilled for this is the few review sessions that actually kick start with dessert first, omg! Am a happy girl! (=
NUTELLA PEANUT TOAST (MYR 12.90)
As its name suggests, this toast comes with the alluring nutella alongside peanut cream, served with a dollop of house-beaten cream and also a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I love the way the bread is fluffily baked inhouse with some crispiness at the crust. The bouncy bread projects a much springier texture that is well-equipped with some peanut cream within and also heightened up with some crushed groundnuts at the side. As you dip in addictively, you get to savour a plethora of dulcet nuance in the palate that includes the chocolaty from the nutella amidst the nutty fragrance from the peanut. It was simply superb and effortlessly stolen my heart as the best pick of the day!
Even I have further made the dessert more sinful by drizzling another helping of chocolate cream, the dish appear equally wonderful and not too saccharine still. Highly recommend for sharing and thumbs up!
GREEN LAVA (MYR 12.90)
Up for a modern way of enjoying your nostalgic kaya? Yeah, it’s really the housemade kaya albeit it may fools you into thinking it as green tea instead, hehe.
Cubes of toasted bread are majestically arranged tower-tall before smothered with the velvet and eggy green kaya that is later surrounded at the base with soft kaya crumbles. It would be better if the crumbles are made slightly crispy though (=
MR. YELLOW (MYR 11.90)
Fans of banana and pancake could rejoice indulgently as they meet Mr. Yellow- Cutesy mini pancakes served with banana, maple syrup and vanilla ice cream. Pillowy flannel cake always find its way with any fruity companion-in this case, the potassium-rich source; banana. You can never go wrong with this combination.
It’s already a visual treat seeing the goody syrup flows in liberally, slowly deluging the toothsome hotcakes.
TOFU SALAD (MYR 8.90)
An ingenious twist to your otherwise mundane salad.
Guess what? This special bean curd salad was brilliantly fashioned with a caramelized layer on top of the silky cube, rendering it a more luscious enjoyment. It immediately reminds me of crème brulee no doubt, hehe. But of course, a very much healthier version of compatriots (=
This light salad is served healthily with sliced cucumber, tomatoes and chopped carrots, turnips, before spiced up with some nutty crunch to be enjoyed along homemade black and sesame sauce.
MR. CLAM & SPAGHETTI (MYR 12.90)
Another spectacular dish from the kitchen of Wichday Cafe.
Deliciously served with clams and salted egg crumbles that perfectly match well with the peppered, light cream sauce and smidgens of chopped bird's eyes chilies. It can be quite tongue-challenging at some point, but still get me hooked on it for more. Recommended plate, ma ma mia!
CARBONARA SPAGHETTI (MYR 12.90)
Or for those who prefer its creamy pasta simple and frills-free, then go for this gratifying serving of spaghetti, thoroughly covered with cream sauce together with chicken ham, oyster mushroom and the cheeky ebiko atop!
A slight variation from the savoury Mr. Clam, this Japanese-elemental pasta comes in more salinity- perhaps due to the ebiko topping, but nevertheless, makes a delightful plate still.
Certainly jollies up most of the foodies especially Japanese food lovers, as ebiko helps to injects more oceanic tang to it. It works similarly for the scrumptious Mentaiko Udon from Udon Ya-San.
To round up the splendid fare, let’s amuse your taste bud with these lovesome beverages.
HOT CHOCOLATE WITH MARSHMALLOW (MYR 7.90)
ICED GREEN TEA LATTE (MYR 9.90)
So WICHDay to come? ヾ(◍’౪`◍)ノ゙♡
