To start off the epicurean
fête, let’s first warm up the tummy with some salad as hors d'oeuvres before we
proceed further with the entrée and of course, some appealing cocktails, mocktails as
well as homemade dessert to round up the table on a sweet note.
APPLE AND AVOCADO SALAD (MYR 25.00++)
A good helping of garden green salad, apple, avocado, walnuts,
alfafa and cubes of gorgonzola cheese, drizzled with Italian dressing, extra
virgin oil , parsley and thyme.STUFF ESCARGOTS BOURGUIGNON – 1/2 DOZEN (MYR 25.00++)
A rather different tweak to those I had at Dining Hall and Gaucho Grill previously, the French style snail recipes over here serves up a more garlicky taste albeit still on a milder note with a slight playful addition of mashed potatoes in the middle to soak up the essence of the buttery gravy. Doused with a smidgen of parsley using unsalted butter, it makes a decent appetizer which I don’t mind it to be more flavourful.
CLASSIC MARGHERITA PIZZA (MYR 19.00++)
One of the all-time classic favourite choice of pizza, Magherita with a helpful dosage of cheese, basil and oregano, oven-baked till crispy at the crust on a thin crust base basked with Italian tomatoes freshly made puree.
CHICKEN WHOLE LEG (MYR 28.00++)
Nicely grilled chicken whole leg cooked with olive, capers, onion, herbs and cream served with potatoes and grilled seasonal vegetables. The chicken was mildly seasoned and flavoured with herbs and spices and it suits my taste bud as it was not oily.
SALMON TROUT WITH ROCKET SALAD (MYR 38.00++)
Grilled Norwegian salmon seared with potatoes of the day and served with tomato, a little bit of japapeno, black pepper, lemon cream sauce to taste. rocket and spicy coulis sauce
MUSHROOM RISOTTO (MYR 28.00++)
Originally are cooked up to 90% only for the perfect al dente nuance of creaminess, which more often than not, our local folks yet to acquire the true appreciation on this Northern Italian staple. Hence, it’s bit starchy and overcooked to suit the local palate.
Nevertheless, the aroma is commendable as I always love the pleasant flavor of fresh herbs, mixed with a medley of onion, garlic, parsley, parmesan cheese, button mushroom and a touch of fresh cream.
Another similar dish but better in comparison is the Mushroom Risotto I have tasted at Thyme to Taste Restaurant.
AGLIO MUSSEL AND PRAWN (MYR 28.00++)
A decently herbed strings of spaghetti with some chilli flakes for some spicy kick, served with fresh prawns and New Zealand half-shell green mussel.
Seems like a trend of using spiced gravy in the ubiquitous al dente pasta. Having said that, I have sampled equivalent promising ones at Bofe Eatery and Wichday Café.
As the finale, we are served dessert of the day, made sugar-free
CHOCOLATE GARNACHE (MYR 16.00++)
Velvet and indulgent treats especially if you are a chocoholics. Not too sweet not too sinful to succumb into guilt.
BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE TOPPED WITH STRAWBERRY ICE-CREAM (MYR 16.00++)
A light fruity piece of delicacies, although I like it to be cheesier. Hence, my fav pick goes to the former dessert.
BLUE LAGOON (MYR 30.00++)
A compelling blend of vodka, gin, triple sec, blue curacao and pineapple juice topped with 7-up.
Exciting chillers (both cocktail and mocktail) to choose from MYR 12.00++ each
TROPICAL BREEZE
Delightful thirst-quencher with an zesty injection of pineapple and lemonade
SHIRLEY TEMPLE
Lemonade with grenadine
VIRGIN COLADA
Coconut milk and pineapple juice
In a nutshell, if you are
looking for the authentic palate of our Caucasian friends, then drop by here
one day to allow your conventional taste bud with a fresher twist of the
European style.
