LWIN LEE | Elizabeth Fine Dine @ Setia Walk

Going on a blind date? Sounds too cliché perhaps?
But what if you really have to dine while being “blindfolded” without any visual to your meal? Eyebrows rose?  ^_^

But yeah, that’s exactly what we had to go through when attending the unconventional dinner held by LivingSocial for its guests as well as partners from media and bloggers. The location that is specifically chosen is none other than Elizabeth Fine Dining, located at Grand Shanghai at Setia Walk, one of the latest hype to the ever growing neighbourhood mall. We were also provided with a complimentary return chauffeur to and fro the venue, courtesy of Uber Malaysia.

Not too bad a ride, in a Mercedes-Benz E200 ( =
~ Personal chauffeur-driven return trip service by Uber.

Interestingly, apart from the many gastronomy eateries that this shopping mall offers to the urbanites, this place also catches much hoopla with its Shanghai-feel grandeur embellishment, from the display of the tycoon attention-grabbing black car from, the good old days, nostalgic trishaw to traditional knickknackery. Sensibly, it makes a rather good place for some memorable photography snapping as well : )

Having said that, Elizabeth Fine Dining seems to be able to blend in well amid this aesthetic place by showcasing its lavish white-themed architectural ornamentations to further emphasize its de facto. Its facades that comes with exposed brick wall, has given this colonially designed building some rustic feel yet remaining chic and elegant in its own ways.

Besides that, the aesthetic ceramics as well as the silverware that are ethically arranged, captures my attention the most!

Oh before that, hope you guys don’t mind on the not so sharply apertured photos, as this was the first time I ever took them with my eyes totally blindfolded, meaning to say, I don’t know what would be the outcome of the shooting as I could merely depends on touch, to approximately measure the focal point between my meal and the lense, hehe……. Challenging wasn’t it?  (=

But worry not still, as your walkabout would be assisted by the waitstaff throughout the course of the night, from guiding you to your tables, to the position of the silverwares later.

Anyway, a snippet of the day’s table d'hôte; mysteriously exciting 6-course fine dining serving.

As cliché has it, amuse-bouche to warm up your palate.

Starters
Red Wine
~ One of the funnily and awkwardly picture taken at its best, lol….

Entries

Chef’s Special Canape of the day as welcoming taste.
~ Includes some triangular bite- sized of tuna sandwich and garlic butter toastie nosh.

Second Entry

Cesar Salad with Seafood
~ Salad of romaine lettuce and croutons dressed with Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, olive oil, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and black pepper. It is often prepared tableside.

Now, this is where the act get "snapped red-handed"! Lolz....

Appetizer

Salmon Tartar
~ Prepared with fresh raw salmon and seasoning, in gazpacho sauce and buffalo cheese.

Soup

Chilled Strawberry Orange Soup.Chilled Strawberry Orange Soup.
~ Definitely intriguing as it is not an often occasion to have a bowl of lovely pinkish soup! Of course, I only knew it after checking my Lumix later on when trying the funky idea of photography with blindfold on (=

~ Served chilled with tint of orange citrusy and fragrance of the strawberries in the fruity puree broth. Something refreshing and uncustomary indeed, but I would still prefer a bowl of creamy and warm mushroom soup, if given a choice, for the savory delectableness per se.

Main Course
Seared Wild Fish with Spicy Orange Salsa
~ A great combination of spices and white wine, with freshly squeeze oranges, mid stewing and scaring along with fish , fruits and vegetables.

Dessert

Pannacota
~ An Italian dessert made by simmering together cream and milk. It is generally believed to have originated in the Northern Italian region of Piedmont.

Overall, the food are nicely presented but taste wise, unfortunately not that memorable, as opposed  to the restaurant’s luxurious décor which further gives it a touch of vintage elegance.  As it was a night meant for total sensuous enjoyment, guess it still fit in the idea of a quite exquisite and unique dining experience indeed.

Some memento to everyone attendees :)

Cheers & Carpe Diem!

Looking bit tipsy after some half glass of red wine   (✿◠‿◠)
