Fans of pancakes could now unleash their creativity as much as possible when it comes to preparing the pancake and even cook to the way that they like it to be over here at Slappy Cakes, which is currently residing at Publika Shopping Mall.





Slappy Cakes is a family owned and operated restaurant that opened in Portland since 2009, a town that is legendarily famous for brunch. Currently its outlet is available in Unites States, Singapore, Philipines, Japan and now, Malaysia.







Before we begin with the cliché way, the pan is first heat up for us to go innovative with our own pancake cooking, the Slappy way, before calling in the mains (=





How to DIY your pancake? This is how it works:




1)    BATTER UP
Pick you favourite flavours, from Buttermilk, Chocolate, Peanut Butter or Whole Wheat that are made from scratch daily.

2)   MAKE PANCAKES
Get creative with fun shapes and sizes, express yourself
3)   ADD FIXINS
Choose your own combinations or pick one of the favourite suggestions from the menu.
4)   FLIP
Bubbles will start to form aroundthe edges of the pancake, once they pop, you are ready to flip.

5)   EAT!
Your pancake should take 2-3 minutes to finish cooking after flipping. Add toppings and enjoy!




You can even make a decent crepe too, surprise! 





And craft it as you wish, be it huge or miniature art, hehe.





The fixins that we love to explore are blueberries, lemon curd, strawberry jam, cinnamon crème fraiche and white chocolate chips. Of course, there are numerous other choices for you to choose from. Just feel free to design your very own pancake and no one will judge, so have fun!

HOUSEMADE GRANOLA (MYR 15)
Served over yogurt and topped with fresh fruit such as blueberries, green apple, raisin and banana accompanied by some nutty crumbles- makes a decent and nutritious repast to kick off the day. I don’t mind more assorted nuts namely walnut and pecans to go with (=




For entrees, try out the Omega 3-rich meal!

GRILL SALMON AGLIO OLIO (MYR 22)
Al dente spaghetti toothsomely dished up with grilled salmon cubes, sweet basil, black olives and chili flakes for some spicy kick. Sprinkles of cheese helps spiced up the overall palate of the juicy salmon bites.





SLAPPY BENEDICT (MYR 23)
Sauted spinach, mushrooms and turkey bacon served with pureed roasted garlic and sun-dried tomatoes topped with two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce on housemade English muffins, served with potatoes. The inhouse pickled cabbage makes a good, appetizing sides too.





Gooey golden yolk liberally flowing down……




In a nutshell, it’s all about enjoying joyful grubs and do-it-yourself cooking here at the American brunch franchise. So be creative and playful here, besides expecting some thrill and sense of accomplishment from your hardwork (though not so hard after all ^^) of your own pancake making in action!
