Juro Restaurant @ Kepong
Another wonderful porky fare at Juro Restaurant whose forte is specializing in pork dishes. Started off as a retailer in this meaty business with Meaty, as the brand name, it soon ventures into F&B a year ago when patrons alike are showing good feedbacks.
The outlet has a comfortable setting with dim lightings. Sitting at one corner is the big storage of cold cut meats that is available for purchase. And diners there get to enjoy 10% off ! As its name Juro depicts, which literally means pork in Mandarin, it’s definitely one of the best place to get the fresh supply of this meaty meal at a good bargain!
Before the feast kicks off, we have Terry, the restaurant manager, to share with us some information about this restaurant and also informative inputs regarding these cold cuts. According to Terry, all the meats are freshly made locally, thus not to worry of any preservatives. Wow, what a best place for meat lovers.
Ohh..piggie! :D
Peach Sparkling Lemonade
It’s such soothing moment to have some sips of fresh drinks
upon arrival to the restaurant, after some mild traffic crawl at the Golden
Triangle area. This Peach Sparkling Lemonade is chilling and the fragrance of
the peach further makes it much more enjoyable. It’s not too sweet and have a
nice blend with the lemonade which is definitely thirst-quenching!
Cream of Ham & Bacon
A bowl of delish soup is served in prior to stimulate our
taste bud. It is the Cream of Ham & Bacon, which I think is quite unique as
the common starter would be Mushroom Soup. This version has incorporate the
fragrance of bacon bites into the creaminess of the soup, making it much
smoother an tangy with the chewy ham as well.
Mushroom Soup
This similar
bowl of soup differentiate itself with its comrade by infusing lots of chewy
mushroom bites in it. It is fragrant, slightly pepperish and creamy. Doused
with some herbs on top, it blends in well with the savoury soup and then, good
to go with a piece of toasted baguette.
Bacon Salad
As some
appetizers, we started off warming up our palate with this tantalizing Bacon
Salad. The pieces of diced bacon has added some smokiness into the otherwise,
plain garden salad. The meat is tangy, some saltiness involved, but got
balanced off with the crisp salad greens like capsicums, lettuce, cherry
tomatoes, onions and many more, which are drenched in a mixture of dressing
that are equally captivating.
Lychee Salad
with Almond Flakes
The other type of
salad served is undeniably unique in its own. Here we have Lychee Salad with
Almond Flakes. I never know that lychee could be a good topping in this case as
well, hehe. Comes laying on the bed of salad greens such as tomatoes, onions,
lettuce, and et cetera, the bites of lychee
are pretty inviting indeed. You can enjoy the sweetness of it but surprisingly,
complement the whole salad pretty well, with the addition of thousand island
and other dressing. Light and satisfying.
German Pork
Knuckle
Eventually,
the main dishes has made its appearance. The famous German Pork Knuckle by
Juro. It’s a majestic spread that gets us drooling with just the sight of
it. The is one of the must-have dish whenever you dine at restaurant that takes
pride in serving good porky dishes. Undeniably, the pork is fried till crispy
on the outside, where you get to enjoy the crunch of it. The meat is well
marinated, rich in aromatic spices. However, I find some part of the meat is
bit hard and tough, might due to imbalance frying and the thick meat that makes
it the heat hard to penetrate thoroughly. There is when the inhouse made brown
sauce comes handy :D It helps make up the slight flaws.
Texas BBQ
Baby Back Ribs
Soon, comes
this tender baby back ribs, which is also equally well marinated with a mixture
of BBQ spices and sauce that make is quite juicy and porkilicious. The meat is
done just nice, not too salty and is very smoky as well. I guess they are
nearly perfectly grilled to wet our palate.
Mexican Spicy
Baby Back Ribs
A slight
different version of the juicy baby back ribs is this style of cooking the
Mexican way. You will find the tender baby back ribs, nicely marinated with
Mexican hot sauce that gives out a much stronger taste than the Texas style. I
would say this method of cooking has made the meat more juicy and succulent,
with an extra kick of smokiness too.
Grilled Pork
Belly
Yummy! I must
say this dish is nearly perfecto! The meat is very succulent and tender, almost
melt in your mouth, with some hint of honey sweetness. The pork belly is adequately marinated with
their in house tasty Cajun spices and then grilled to perfection. It is then
served on a bed of cauliflowers, broccolis, mashed potato and not forgetting my favourite fries! Hehe.. The
vegetables are crisp an no wonder it’s to be backed by their ‘porc-pular’
demand.
Assorted Sausage Platter
Wow, am
amazed to see such compilation of various German sausages for the first time to
be arranged such beautifully and tempting! It’s kind of intimidating though looking
at their huge sizes, but not to the extend to deter us from degusting it, yum!
There are
Cheese Sausage, Black Pepper Sausage, German Bratwurst , Munich Bratwurst and
BBQ Sausage. Among the famous one is the German Cheese Sausage, that comes with
natural cheese in a savory smoked flavor. It’s very juicy and chewy to the
taste bud. I personally think that. if the cheese were more apparent, then it
would be triple the fun!
German
Sausage Varieties
The German
Bratwurst is delish. It’s the authentic
recipe made according to the old German style. Thus we should really enjoy this
hearty dish with much pleasure :D Apart from that, the other variety; German
Black Pepper Sausage, is quite tantalizing as this traditional German spiced
pepper recipe has given this sausage a distinctive flavor which is also well-known
for its spicy taste. Not forgetting the BBQ Sausage, which is a grilled party
sausage that is rich in majoram as well as many herbs and spices that heightens
up the awesomeness. The majoram herbs actually lend some citrusy and oregano
flavor to it.
Ham Steak
This fare has
definitely widened my horizon as far as steak is concerned. I have never though
that ham could be dished up such a way fantastically. It’s really juicy and
finger-licking good! According to Terry, the ham steak is just being grilled that
way without the need to add on any other condiments as the meat has earlier
been cured and cooked in German style, then blend in with delicate mixture of
herbs. You have the option for this Ham
Steak to come with brown or salsa sauce, and I personally prefer the latter one
for better flavor! When paired with the smooth and creamy mashed potato, it’s none
other than superb! Thumbs up!
Grilled
Chicken Chop
One of the
best highlight of the day also belongs to this signature Grilled Chicken Chop.
The meat is very tender and succulent, very well-marinated with the seasonings,
thus it tastes heavenly. It’s not too oily, with mild sweetness of the
honey-like glazing on the skin, then served with generous portion of fries
underneath this juicy poultry. You choose to have this menu served with BBQ,
Mushroom or Black Pepper sauce.
Thick Fries
It’s
definitely a fun and joyful moment to learn that the French fries served here
is indeed very generous. Although they are thickly-cut, the fries are fried
till light golden brown with the outer skin being slightly crispy while
retaining the softness within. Unlike the conventional fries out there which
usually are a bit salty, I find them here taste better and almost without salt
added, thus, you could taste the frangrance of the original potato. Best to go
with the relish like salsa or even black pepper sauce too!
Spaghetti Aglio Olio E Peperoncino
Our western epicurean experience wouldn’t be complete without the favourite
dish that satisfy the taste bud of most of the folks out there, Spaghetti Aglio
Olio E Peperoncino. At one glance, one might think the presentation is a bit
bland, thus, might not hold much surprises. But I think you would bed to
differ, just like me, after the first taste D The very first intense aroma that
could be detected is the rich flavor of black pepper, then follows by bites if
juicy mushroom cubes, with the much essential Italian herbs, that have spice up
this dish overall. It not spicy, but could be deemed as a stronger version of
the usual Aglio Olio where chilli spiciness are much milder. Yummy!
Spaghetti Carbonara
with Ham and Streaky Bacon
Another in
house special pasta is none other than Spaghetti Carbonara with Ham and Streaky
Bacon. It’s not quite a common scene for me to see streaky bacons paired with
creamy carbonara. Having said that, this menu somehow has showed up pretty well
:D The bacons is very tasty and not too fatty, with some hint of smokiness to
pair with the carbonara sauce. The al dente-cooked pasta is done springily, and
then tossed with cutlets of juicy ham, before wrapped up with moderate
carbonara sauce so that it is not too creamy.
Pudding
Dessert
Eventually,
the dessert section comes knocking at our door with an array of flavor
selection. For strawberry lovers, you could go with the in house made Strawberry
Pudding. The pudding is very silky and smooth,
drenched with a small amount strawberry syrup to give it a kick. As for me, personally would prefer the green
version which is of Minty Kiwi Pudding. The pudding texture is equally smooth
with slight eggy aroma, that also doused with some light kiwi syrup to enhance
the flavor.
Muffin with
Ice Cream
Amongst the
dessert spread, I think this Muffin served with Ice Cream seems to be more attractive than the relatively
silky desserts choices :D
The muffin is
adequately soft and fluffy, with some tinge of vanilla flavor. Best enjoyed
together with a scoop of ice cream of your preference, ranging from chocolate,
strawberry and vanilla, doused with some syrup. The chilling ice cream helps to
cool down the tummy after a hearty spread of food. If there were chocolate
cake, it’ll be great for that reminds me of molten lava chocolate cake which
you don’t want to miss out:D Yummy!
Latte
Besides
wrapping up with dessert, a hot cuppa is equally most welcomed too :D The coffee served here has got the
quintessential fragrance of the coffee beans, which is shown by the layer of
thick creama lingering on the cup area. It is smooth and adequately
full-bodied. Just that I am a bit puzzled when seeing the white foam is just
served that way, as usually, there would be at least some art to zest it up.
And so, I put my creativity skills to use by adding some strawberry carving to
it, haha.
Definitely a porchiliious night to behold!
