The Red Beanbag @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas
One
Friday night after work, suddenly, there is an urge to get something nice to
fill up and pamper the tummy. And so, after getting recommendations around, I
decided to go ahead with one suggestion by my chef friend; The Red Beanbag,
located at the al fresco area of The Publika. I have always enjoyed my every
leisure time spent there especially at night for the cooling and windy
atmosphere, which is much lighted when approaching the wee hours :D
So
we get to the first floor of this café, with its brand name states confidently
“ Home stairs that are worth climbing …..we’re not your usual ”. Alright then,
we are much more anticipating of what they have got to offer us soon :D
The
place is quite condusive, with the dim lighting and some ragbags hanging on the
wall as simple ornaments. Coach are comfy, overlooking the night view through
the wide window glasses.
Truffle
and Brie
Scenery
appreciation aside, now it’s prime time to curb the growling tummy :D So we
flip through The Light Side menu and end
up with Truffle and Brie. I think it’s a good appetizer and first time to learn
how to appreciate this unique cheese more with truffle :D
The
marriage of Brie Cheese and truffle-infused mascarpone cream served with
pineapple chutney, truffle salad and crispy baguette slices are simple yet
satisfying. The pineapple chutney is
especially juicy and pair really well with the Brie Cheese, which
otherwise would be more of an acquired taste individually. You better start
enjoying the food as soon as it’s served, else the baguette could be tad rocky
hard.
Croque
Monsieur
After
some light warm up of the stomach, now is time to fish something from The Dark
Side menu. Since I have been intrigued by Croque Monsieur all this while, one
order is being added to cart instantly :D
It’s
looks like the typical thick toasties, but comes with grilled Turkey Ham and Cheese Sandwich. They
are fully coated with generous amounts of Mozzarella cheese, which delights me
the most! As you bite on it, there will be some crunch sound and you could
taste the melting cheese within. It’s really delectable and done wonderfully!
Slurps!
Cherry
Tart
And
the best round up for the dinner would be the Cherry Tart. The dessert is an
unconventional upside-down version of tart that are served with a scoop of
vanilla ice cream. It’s eggy and bit porous type. The cake is then garnished
with some fresh berries that are very sweet in that dark purple colour and then
laid on the chocolate-sprinkled plate. However, there are only three of them on
top of the tart, wish there were more :D The cake is warm, and best served with
a bite of the chilling vanilla ice cream, which somehow helps to moisten the
bit drier texture of the cake.
Hot
Latte
This
cup of lovely Hot Latte is freshly
brewed from the Red Mean Mean Machine. This machine is said to be the the soul
of the café for it works hand in hand with the barista on duty to produce what
we like to describe; a very good cup of coffee :D
As
you may guess, the latte indeed has a very nice coffee aroma with some
fragrance, amidst the bitterness of the coffee beans. It’s made with a skilled
proportion of coffee to milk, and you may add some brown sugar for simple hint
of sweetness. Of course, not missing my favourite latte art as well :D Looking
forward to another return.
