LWIN LEE | JAMAICA BLUE FINE COFFEES @ MID VALLEY

The recent burgeoning scene of indie coffee roasting cafes have seen our palate being pampered with various discerning and hearty grubs. Coupled with the increasing demand for a good cup of joe, has us witnessed that indeed, there is still vast room for more in depth exploration of this wondrous roasted bean has to offer, indirectly raising the bar higher amongst the competitive peer players in this artisan coffee industry.

The man behind the delish menu offerings; amiable and down-to-earth Chef Ramil who hails from Philippines.

Jamaica Blue, being the latest bold new kid on the block at Mid Valley, makes a shout out convincingly with its array of promising food and beverages, including its Signature Blend of 7 types beans as well as the prestigious selection from the one of the oldest estate; Wallenford Estate Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. Both exude noticeable distinctness that is more apparent in its respective ristretto serving.

As coffee culture has been an integral part of our daily life (to most of us), we can’t help but to bask in welcoming a brand new day with escaping trails of aromatic coffee complemented with sumptuous made-to-order meals. And that’s what you could expect from this Australian coffee chain that greets you with rustic décor in a minimalist comfy set up. In fact, this boutique-like café has been making waves since its foray 25 years ago.

Soon, wafting through the air is the perpetuated scents of morning brews fluttering about the inner rim of these dainty ceramics.

Together with us here is Clifford Hii, Executive Director of HCK Food, who brief us on the background of this café kiosk set up as well as his passion in real coffee indulgence. From his input, we realize that this café uses only dark roasted beans for the robust aroma yet smooth finishing.

We are first introduced to Jamaica Blue Signature Blend brews.
A satisfying creamy coffee with a delicate chocolate aftertaste. This well-rounded coffee blend is made from 100% Arabica beans sourced from five of the world’s most renowned coffee regions.

Double Espresso (MYR 7)
Here  comes the Doppio!

Latte (MYR 9.90)

\
Mocha (MYR 10.90)

Cappuccino (MYR 9.90)

Chai Latte (MYR 10.90)
Got hooked on this cinnamon-inspired beverage ever since first tried at CraveCafé.

Wallenford Estate Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee comes next.

Touted as one of the world’s best coffees, this single-origin varietal is set to delight your taste bud with its bright and sweet, crisp finish. Grown at the superior location of Jamaica’s Blue Mountain, it has rendered a remarkable premium coffee tasting to your senses. It comes rather mild but perfectly balanced.

Double Espresso (MYR 14.90)

Latte (MYR 19.90)

Ensue subsequently are wonderful plates of toothsome recipes made fresh from the kitchen to spice up your coffee enjoyment.

Among the menu highlights that we have tasted during this review session are…………..

Jamaica Blue Big Breakfast (MYR 20.90)
Eggs, turkey ham, chicken sausage, roasted tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms and toast. With a beverage of your choice to live up to a good brunch selection.

Blueberry & Vanilla Pancakes with Banana (MYR 12.90)
Three stacks of blueberry and vanilla pancakes, garnished with banana dices and some jovial sprinkles of maple syrup. Tastes good, cushiony dough albeit Its archetypal presentation might be a little bit deceiving. But hey, worry not as taste wise is rather reassuring though, if not better and more inventive than the ubiquitous pancakes available at other cafes.

Tuna & Lemon Cakes  (MYR 15.90)
Served warm with horseradish crème and a salad garnish. Bountiful tuna flakes stuffed in each breaded balls no dought, but could be better if it’s slightly moist up.

Zucchini & Fetta Fritters (MYR 13.90)
Two fritters served warm with tomato chutney and salad finish. Some lekker nosh that reminds us of our friendly omelette but convincingly pulls off much better.

Besides that, their Grilled Vegetable & Quinoa Salad is one awesome selection you should try over here, really. Unlike the conventional salad with usual dressing nor quinoa served elsewhere that is not thoroughly cooked. Yum yum…..

Now it’s time to call out the favourite of the sweet tooth! Dessert time! (=

Caramel Machiatto Cheesecake (MYR 12.90)
Indulgently captivating with its creaminess that is just rightly done. Not too saccharine but still lends the unmistakably caramel flavor humbly.

Lemon Sugar Muffin (MYR 6.90)
Often mistaken as muffin, this sweet friend gives a less moist and springier texture comparatively to its doppelganger (= Oh, there is also a surprise lemony filling in between for some citrusy kick.

Carrot Walnut (MYR 11.90)
Engaging tickling nutty crunch hiding within this delish bake.

Tiramisu (MYR 12.90)
Lovely choice as always……………

With the ever-blooming sophisticated coffee chains around Klang Valley in the recent past two years, hopefully you are able to identify your very own coffee element that lies closest to your heart. Me for one, are slowly leaning over single origin brew aside from the conventional milk-based coffee in the course of true coffee appreciation learning curve.
