At the mention of Japanese bakeries within Klang Valley, only
a handful of brands that would actually come into the picture. And Hokkaido
Pastry is one of the few that specializes in this niche pastry which fully
utilizes premium imported ingredients especially flour all the way from Japan
itself. There must be reasons why Hokkaido Pastry has been greeting the palate
of Kota Damansara folks briskly for 4 years now at the lively neighbourhood of
Dataran Sunway.
Over here, only butter would be used instead of margarine for
a better health and overall quality taste.
All the breads are using high quality flour sourced from
Japan and baked using only naturally inhouse fermented yeast. This would ensure
a healthier diet of your carbo intake and hence, all staffs of life from
Hokkaido Pastry are preservative-free and best consumed within 2 days.
EBIKO
MYR 4.20
Indeed something very interesting! Never thought that
ebiko could actually blend in unexpectedly well with baguette that renders some
oceanic briny flavor to it.
TARO
YAM BUN MYR 3.50
Violet paste of yam encased velvety within a pillowy
soft dough.
NATURAL
YEAST BREAD MYR 10
One of the best-seller, this healthy wheat bread is
not only fluffy, but also soft- contradictory to its appearance, and naturally sweetened
up mildly with raspberry and some raisins.
SWEET
POTATO MYR 3.30
Essentially shaped as the spud itself. Creatively
appealing!
DURIAN
SWISS ROLL MYR 14.5
Another awesome, seasonal confectionery by Hokkaido
Pastry. Relishing in this soft and balmy durian swiss roll is akin to enjoying
the fruit itself for the alternating cream layers has been munificently infused
with the unmistakable durian paste, slurps!
VANILLA
CHEESECAKE MYR 7
Unlike the usual cheesecake, this piece of toothsome
dessert tickles your taste bud with exciting three various layers of texture-
baked cheesecake at the bottom, vanilla mousse to the top’s vanilla chiffon,
providing a pleasant nuance overall. Not too cloying nor over creamy, which you
should really give it a try too!
CARAMEL
DANISH MYR 3.50
A French inspired pastry, this crusty cake contains
layered bread dough of butter and sugar that is baked until the butter puffs up
the dough and the sugar caramelizes. Hence, this specialty is truly a luscious
pastry by itself that actually plays as a tight rival to cronuts- undeniably my
top pick of the day. Double thumbs up!
All your delicious and fragrantly baked breads are delivered
to you passionately by Chef Victor himself, who is very affable and soft-spoken.
Do remember to drop by one of these days whenever you’re
nearby Sunway Giza to try out their others many more delectable pastries which
I personally opine are rather creative and unique such as those highlighted
over here. And if you are lucky, Chef Victor would also be able to clear out any
of your doubts you faced during baking too as he loves sharing and exchanging
ideas with the like-minded ones- guess you’ve met your instant savior of pastry
conundrum!
