ASIA’S 1st IMMERSIVE OUTDOOR CINEMA OFFICIATED @ MATIC, BY TOURISM MALAYSIA

Perk Idea Sdn Bhd launched ‘Drive-in Cinema Malaysia’, Asia’s first immersive technological outdoor cinema and was officiated by Dato' Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Senior Director of Domestic & Events Division - Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia).

Drive-in Cinema Malaysia serves as an attraction for Malaysian travelers to visit when they travel to Kuala Lumpur and is in-line with Tourism Malaysia's Cuti-Cuti Malaysia campaign. Drive-in cinema Malaysia will be held for 45 days, from 19 September – 1 November 2020 at Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club, Kuala Lumpur.

A cinematic experience like non-other, Drive-in Cinema Malaysia brings a whole new experience for movie-goers that stimulates all 5 senses.

Apart from screening the blockbuster films, upon entering the Drive-in cinema, audiences will drive through a series of platforms with stunning digital lighting effects that are themed to captivate and leave audiences in awe. During the screening of the movies, several lighting effects will take place to elevate the movie experience. Drive-in Cinema Malaysia can accommodate over 200 cars, in comparison to the competitor's average capacity of 30, and utilizes radio channels to broadcast the audio from the movie; hence, without the need of distributing Bluetooth speakers, any risk of spreading COVID 19 is minimized or eliminated.

"Drive-in Cinema Malaysia will serve as a great attraction for travelers from the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, to experience this immersive technological drive-in cinema firsthand during their visit.

Drive-in Cinema Malaysia's efforts to avoid the spread of Covid-19 through minimizing human contact are highly commendable. Because of its effective use of e-wallet and radio broadcast for movie audios, it is a safer way for people from all over the country to enjoy movies in an electrifying theatrical environment while at the same time having peace of mind," said Dato’Dr. Ammar.

Through Drive-in Cinema Malaysia’s partnership with Malaysia Association Tourism Agency (MATA), tour agencies from all across Malaysia will be able to include Drive-in Cinema Malaysia in their travel packages at preferential rates together with other exciting attractions; thus, Drive-in Cinema Malaysia supports the Government’s efforts to promote domestic tourism and recover the tourism industry in Malaysia. ASEAN Retail-chain & Franchise Federation’s (ARFF) partnership with Drive-in Cinema Malaysia encourages guests from all across Malaysia, to visit retail brands and franchises while in Kuala Lumpur and enjoy massive discounts through vouchers distributed on Drive-in Cinema Malaysia’s platform.

According to the Managing Director of Perk Idea Sdn Bhd, Mr. Phan KH, Drive-in Cinema Malaysia was created as part of the initiatives of their community project called COMBATING TOGETHER, which was initiated during the Movement Control Order (MCO). During the earlier stages of the MCO, Perk Idea collaborated with local artists to create limited-edition T-shirts to fund the donations of face shields to frontliners through the Selangor Health Department & Yayasan Sin Chew. This time around, through initiatives of Drive-in Cinema Malaysia, Mr. Phan wishes to contribute to the country by supporting the recovery of the tourism and events industry that was severely impacted by the pandemic. Part of the proceedings from Drive-in Cinema Malaysia will be donated to selected orphanage communities that require sustenance and support.

Drive-in Cinema Malaysia was created to showcase a unique entertainment experience to the Rakyat during the RMCO, while also complying with the SOPs set by MKN. Through our community project ‘COMBATING TOGETHER’, we intend to create remarkable events that will benefit my fellow countrymen and give back to the communities that requires it the most. We aim to make Drive-in Cinema Malaysia an annual attraction that will be held in various states so that more people can experience this extraordinary event. By doing so, we hope to contribute to our country by boosting the domestic economy, and help brands promote their products and services in other states of Malaysia.” Mr. Phan concluded.
