Backofen @ Sri Hartamas 2, Petaling Jaya

Backofen has always been my favourite ever since I patronized almost a year ago. Not only that the environment is conducive, food served is also delectable and great for value, coupled with amiable customer service from the crew. Guess that this café has indeed successfully lured me back with its magical spell of “Back often”! : )

It was a cloudy evening as we drove from One Utama, till passing the Bukit Kiara toll. Lucky that it didn’t actually pour heavily with its dreadful grey Columnonibus clouds throughout the journey, but just some drizzles as we reach our destination.

Upon arrival, warm epicurean reminiscence was relived. The place was still well kept, spick and span, just like my previous visit. Very quickly, we were able to secure a cozy corner table, thanks to the odd hour slot.

Drinks chilling us out were Calamansi Juice (MYR 5.90) and Café Latte (MYR 6.90).

Calamansi Juice
Refreshing as its name might have suggested.

Café Lattte
Coffee aroma brewed from machine Rancilio was pleasant to the palate and I simply enjoy the milkiness that came along with it. They might wanna work on the latte art part perhaps?

Cheese and Mushroom Broil (MYR 8)
Finally, I get my hand on this signature bakery from Backofen. It was quite cute from its humble presentation. But little did you know that the filling was really cheesy and creamy, thoroughly mixed with mushroom slices in white sauce, served over their homemade wheat bun before sealed off with cheddar cheese. It’s just so finger-licking good that you might want to go easy on it. Seriously, even am a huge all-time cheese fanatic, I do think this pastry is really rich and sinful with the hidden treasure, but I still loving it : )

Rosmarin Chicken (MYR 13)
Another plate worth sharing; Rosmarin Chicken.
The chicken laces were thoroughly marinated with herbs and spices, juicy in every bite. The tender pieces of chicken were cooked to perfection, served with roasted potatoes that were delightfully browned before spiced up with some herbs. Indeed an indulgent Austrian fare.

Before calling it a day, dessert time to round up my wondrous feast on a sweet note.
Finalised the candidates after pondering awhile at the dessert bar :)

Green Tea Tiramisu (MYR 5.90)
Frankly speaking, the Green Tea Tiramisu served here was much, much better than the same fare by Levain at Bukit Bintang. The top of the confectionary was sprinkled with some matcha crumbles, layered with some cream frosting as well as matcha base chiffon intermittently. There was also a surprise where you would find a little yam-like layer in between. It’s bit mushy and not too sweet, should be of red bean base. Slurps!

Blueberry Pie (MYR 3.90)
Another dessert to tickle your taste bud would be the Blueberry Pie, which was generously infused with blueberries puree. Quite good as it’s not overly sweet either.

Raisin Scones (MYR 1.50)
One of my favourite pastry, Raisin Scones. Soft and fluffy, with juicy raisin in the buttery dough.

Carrot Walnut Scones (MYR 2.50)
A new innovative recipe, Carrot Walnut Scones. This rather big triangular scones was first of its kind to me. Instead of the conventional baking, carrot and walnut were incorporated in this case; giving it a much chewier texture and you get to munch on the chunky bites of walnut occasionally. Thumbs up!

Guess we had another joyous meal while slowing down our pace, observing the outside world through the glass and sipping a good cuppa. Such relaxing moment is just invaluable not easy to come by at times. So, do treasure it whenever you could.

Bon voyage!
