Epicuro @ Damansara Uptown
Nestled at
one of the bustling F&B spot at Damansara Uptown, lies this modestly set up
cafe, Epicuro, which is attention catching with its bold contrast of yellow and
black theme, yet against its unassuming dégagé vibes.
I also like
the idea that the kitchen door is being designed such that it bears a meaningful
relation to its name; with the “ O “,
as its kitchen opening door, pretty creative though :)
The co-owner
of this cozy restaurant is Lee Yugin, who was an engineer by profession in
Germany for a decade ago, before he finally decided to venture into his passion
in cooking. I usually look upon people who dare to live up to their dream of genuine
interest and that garners my utter respect for them. In this case, your palate
are surely to be pampered with variety of interesting dishes that you usually won’t
see elsewhere.
First up to
warm up the dinner mood is my obligatory Caffe
Latte (MYR 10) whenever visiting any coffee house. The coffee holds a
consistent aroma which is rather full-bodied, despite the fact that it is
medium roasted with Brazil Santos beans using Italian’s stunning ambassador; La
Cimbali.
Or if you
have had enough supply of caffeine boost for the day, then this glass of
thirst-quenching ; Iced Passionfruit
Lemon (MYR 4.90) would be good too. Simply citrusy and refreshing.
Balsamic Glazed Pork Ribs (MYR 43.90)
This plate
comes with a succulent and tender grilled pork ribs with a balsamic glaze
served with fries and coleslaw.
The meat is
delectably juicy amidst the mild sweetness of honey glaze and perfectly
marinated thoroughly, albeit there is some hit-and-miss part where the larger ribs
meat is rather too chewy and hard for the cutleries. Nonetheless, we still
enjoy the fare very much for the tantalizing taste it showcases and we are
pretty sure this issue would be well sorted out with the improved roasting
technique in this near time. Frankly, the meat is really sapid that you can do
sans sauce. Yum!
Fries are
thickly cut that we find it very enjoyable, especially the in house Salad that
is very appetizing and captivating with its special dressing, which includes
the aromatic black peppers. Very special and toothsome indeed!
Next up is
the Conchiglie in Spinach Cream (MYR
19.90).
Pasta is done
al dente, generously spread with handsome amount of voluptuous bacons and
sprinkled with lovesome dosage of grated cheese, accompanied by the special
sauce which is made from pureed spinach, garlic and onion. It also makes a very
refreshing alternative to pesto-themed pasta too.
The selection
of the menu is set to be expanded soon in these coming weeks, especially on the
dessert part. Well, for me, I would be on the look out to try their Pesto Pasta
next! Slurps!
