LWIN LEE | Standing Theory @ SS2
Joining the Klang Valley coffee-dessert bandwagon is this unassuming
Standing Theory, which is tucked
away in the middle of SS2, somewhere behind SS2 fire station’s housing area, occupying
the same row of some nondescript business premises. Nonetheless, it’s not that
difficult to locate it with the help of GPS, or any of your SS2-goer buddies.
One thing that draws us over as well as the other loyal patrons
apart from its mouth-watering, awesomely presented creative medley of inhouse
recipes, are the geniality of the team and also the unperturbed ambience, away
from the clamour of hectic urbanity. Over here, one gets to really indulge with
all their senses, yacking the night away leisurely. And if you are lucky, you
would also get to enrich your understanding towards coffee, more than the surface
info, by consulting the witty barista to enlighten you in between their calls.
Bulb of knowledge? (✿◠‿◠)
Some quaint décor to go along with its glossy epoxy floor,
authentically augmented by its innovative environmental-friendly ornaments.
Everything is kept simple so to ensure diners get to loosen up themselves cosily
with the comfort food in stored of course!
After flipping through the interesting menu (which shall be
expanded in coming months), we eventually decided on the inhouse specialties.
Jailhouse Burger (MYR 19)
~ DARK CHOCOLATE injection into cream cheese pork patty, Juniper
Mayo, PEANUT BUTTER, caramelised onions, button mushrooms and pickled red
cabbage.
As you may have noticed, those highlighted ingredients are
somewhat mind-boggling to me, but which has also gotten my attention dearly. As
sceptical as it may sound, it has withal, been excellently executed. Who on the
earth would have thought of such beautiful combination in our daily ubiquitous
burger? Credits definitely go to their groundbreaking chef!
The meat patty is really bountiful and voluptuous, where you
could practically enjoy all the juices oozing out helplessly in your mouth in every
bouncy bites! If you are deliberate enough, your toungue would be able to
differentiate the various layers of those special ingredients used, as
mentioned earlier. And i just love the subtle tinge of melted Van Huetton chocs
in it, just can’t have enough of it! All in all, you really gotta try it out
yourself in order to figure that out, hehe. Amazing!
Crisp and juicy inhouse pickled red cabbage
Even the fries are another pleasant companion too, where it is specially
tossed with garlic powder, onion powder, tomato powder, salt, thyme, rosemary
and basil, with all the fresh herbs are sourced from a nearby shop in the
vicinity.
Coming up next is the fusion of Westernised Korean fare. Oh
yeah, say it again? Yes, unconventional twist of Korean staple food; kimchi! (=
Korean + Mexican Burrito (MYR 20)
~ Spiced pork shoulder, refried pinto beans, kimchi, ginger,
scallion relish, tortilla wrap, Jicama Salsa, and Pico de Gallo.
A fluffy and thin tortilla wrapping up a hearty filling of
tender pork shoulder, that is juicy and flavoursome. Fantastically paired with
kimchi as the mild piquancy from the pickled cabbage helps to bring up the lusciousness
of the meat, making it further more appetizing to the palette.
Oh, by all odds, not forgetting to have some cuppa to complete
the meal on an aromatic note for the night!
Here we have, gloriously brewed cuppa from the gorgeous La Marzocco
Linea, using Single Origin PDC. This Brazilian coffee beans from Poços de Caldas, allows its
gourmands to enjoy an earthy boost of woody hint, with a smooth finishing, such
as this graceful Flat White (MYR 10) and lovely Piccolo Latte (MYR 9).
Surprisingly, there is no Cafe Latte available here, but then we
are meekly tamed by its delicious suggestion, which is either to go for Cappuccino,
if you are in favour of more foam, or a great cup of fragrant Flat White, if
you prefer the otherwise.
Many thanks to the cordiality showered to us by its theorists; Melvin, Angel
and the team, to engrave us with such a memorable coffee moment with sumptuous repast
for the night.
Woosh! Wait a moment, nearly forgot about my dessert session :)
The famous Peanut Butter
Cake (MYR 11)!
Frankly speaking, the cake is one of the best in town, very well
done with the much needed nutty sensation amidst the moist choc cake and fluffy
texture. We are also equally mesmerized by its delicate creaminess that is very
engaging though. So yeah, calling out especially to peanut butter fans out
there! You are not going to go without it whenever dropping by, ma ma mia!!
I think this lill’ fella would put up a tough fight to its
compatriot out there; Nutella cake!
^_^
Cheers and carpe diem!
