RESTAURANT HOCK SING @ JALAN SEROJA, SEREMBAN
Tasted the local ‘tong shui’ in Seremban, and they fared quite
well, not too sweet but just nice, healthier in the sense that they reduce the
sugar level, which is good! Restoran Bubur Manis Zhuan Kee 泉记糖水美食中心, was where we fixed our
hankering for some homey local delights earlier prior to this dinner visits.

Initially we were having some difficulties in locating this restaurant. Then
somehow or rather, we found it by pure luck, haha. It’s funny that its name is
not Google-registered, so we only depend on the location tag given by my dear,
Seremban-born senior, hehe.
As it already passed 7pm
by the time we finally found it, after some several aimless rounds, we quickly
settled down and go with simple, hearty dishes to fill up that drumming tummy!
Stir-Fried Young Tapioca
Shoots
Personally I like the dish
served here very much. Mainly because it’s the first place where I find the
tapioca shoots were stir fried with minimum oil, as compared to elsewhere which
is often more oily. Yum yum!
Teochew Style Steamed Fish
So this is how the Teochew
folks enjoy the salubrious meal. Fresh fish is steamed with juicy tomatoes,
bean curd cubes and some tamarind for added tartness, together with some scallions.
The flavours blend in well altogether, making it one appetizing member on the
table!
Clams in Superior Broth
Last but not least, here
you go for clam lovers like CFC- my partner in crime! (= Always can’t resist if
there are claims up in the menu :D
The clams are considerably
quite big and juicy; I believe you don’t see it that often in normal restaurant
back in KL. But what I really love about it is the soup! It’s clear but yet
flavourful, simple but stellar! It seems like there is some ‘tong guai’ (Angelica
sinensis) added in it for that superb aroma!
Overall, considered a good
try (the feast came up to only less than MYR 60), as the food is not too oily,
tasty and earnestly prepared. They are not too strong in flavoured (I might be
bias as I have a yen for lightly flavoured food so to preserve its original
taste; to the rest might be bit plain, the healthy way, hehe)
As both of us are still
yearning for some freshly brewed cup of Joe to wrap up the day, but weren’t
sure if could find one here in Seremban, so we decided to give it benefit of
doubt by trying our luck at the Google suggestions. Guess what? Eventually we found
one, after several searching, perhaps the hand brew coffee scene is yet to
mature at this beautiful, peaceful town.
Cheers for now and follow
us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’
discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
