Backofen @ Sri Hartamas

Aloha! Finally I found this long-spoken bakery one night after exploration on coffee world in the vicinity. Actually we are lucky enough to have located it correctly as we are purely based on guts since we never really venture into Sri Hartamas area. Glad that now we have a better and clearer picture of this newly found geographical gastronomy.

It has a cosy interior setting with nook area at the al fresco side, should you prefer some airy place and privacy. Well lit and warm ambience would be most welcomed to accompany you throughout your dining experience wonderfully especially at night with your bestie!

Overall, the food is scrumptious and value for money. If you’re not as professionally picky as a chef, this would definitely makes a good hang out place with kaleidoscope of dishes and dessert spread for you to choose from. As its name is bidding, we are surely looking forward to make another return trip soon.

Chicken Stroganoff  (Hahner Stroganoff)

For the main course, we choose the specialty of the house; Chicken Stroganoff  (Hahner Stroganoff). As it’s dinner, we prefer something lighter. Upon arriving, the dish does seems inviting with its creamy orangey gravy generously doused all over the plate. Chicken meat is juicy and mainly consists of chicken breast, which is considered healthy. This is the first time where I need go throught the hassle to remove the chicken skin:D The sauce is pretty special but I couldn’t be sure what the secret ingredients are.  Just that, I would prefer if the spaghetti could be done al dente instead of overcooked where it’s bit soggy with water in this case. Other than that, the portion is alright.

Margharita Pizza

I would say the Margharita Pizza by Backofen is pretty good! It comes appetizingly with tomatoes, spring onions, oregano and not to be missed cheese! The alluring and nice aroma wafted through the air even before it’s being served on the table. The bread dough is bit smoky soft like nachos, as all the pizzas here are served  on thin and crusty base only. The cheese is sufficiently added to complement the tomato puree base at the bottom, then ensues by the dashes of the fragrant scallions. It’s the crispiness and cheesines that we are hoping to enjoy it heartily. No wonder it still remains our all-time favorite delish pizza! Slurps!

Viennese Iced Coffee

As am in the midst of experimenting with coffee, following up with a coffee appreciation session a while ago,  I decided to upheave the discovery with the Viennese Iced Coffee. I’ve been missing this type of coffee ever since I try the hot version at Nando’s but it has since ceased from their menu.

This gentle Viennese Coffee comes with a pile of swirling whipping cream on the top. As expected, the vanilla scent from it would help to smoothen the aroma of the blended coffee underneath it. To my surprise, there is actually a scoop of vanilla ice cream sinking like an iceberg soundly under the surface! That comes delightfully of course. Reason being is the coffee is actually a tad bitter to me when just sipped it that way with just the whipping cream. Only when I mix the Vanilla scoop together with the coffee, then the must stronger vanilla hint helps to add some sweetness to it and therefore, creating a nice iced cuppa to me. Else, I don’t think I would enjoy as much as this way :D

Walnut Brownie

This café actually serves pretty good desserts. They have assorted sweet bakeries what includes brownies, cheesecakes, raisin scones and et cetera. You can have a glimpse at their dessert counter before making up your mind soon, only if you’re not spoilt of choice like me :P

Somehow, this Walnut Brownie catches my attention and feels like it’s waving to me, wanting me to get it :D And so, I humbly get one and then served on a warm plate. The brownie taste quite good actually. It’s made of walnuts bites, looped in together with the chocolate dough coarsely, before it’s drenched with a layer of glazing chocolate garnache on the top. It’s fuss free, not too hard to chew, though solid enough for you to enjoy the chunky texture that soon exudes some nutty aroma. It is also value for money! The best part is, it isn’t too sweet and I can easily can have two of them! Hehe…

Cheese Strudel

The moment I see this dessert, I already know that it will in in my checklist later upon completing my meal, haha :D

Cheese Strudel, the second type after I came across Apple Strudel. For this variety, the middle of the pastry is stuffed with lots of cheese filling, but bit solid and dry. Not like the usual pastry that we tried before which supposed to be more moist and creamy. I wonder if they have added some flour into it? Hmm… Nevertheless, there is always the unmistakably cheesy aroma arises the moment you have a bite. The pastry skin that foils around it is bouncy and soft. I think, if it were to replace with phyllo skin, it should take much better as it would then be crispier :D

Peach Tea

The Peach Tea is chilling and had done a good job in clearing the throat after some sweet indulgence. It is not too sweet but with a nice and pleasant taste of the peach. Besides, tea is a good catalyst in aiding a proper and more efficient digestion of the body. So, by drinking the peach tea would help to rejuvenate the body in a way :D There is some nice floral aroma too.
