Yamagoya Ramen @ Fahrenheit 88, Bukit Bintang
If not from
the news of the friend who suggested we drop by here for lunch, I wouldn’t know
that there is indeed places to dine at the Parkamaya floor at Fahrenheit 88 :D
Well, I guess knowing now is not too late either, provided the food is
scrumptious. Yea, we have seen a mushrooming scene of ramen outlets being
opened quite frequently since a couple of years back in Golden Triangle, with
the major influence comes from Tokyo Street located at Pavillion KL. Anyway,
Yamagoya Ramen still stands out with its very own identity and unique taste,
with its overall milder pork soup base as compared to those at Tokyo Street.
Mukashi Special
Ramen
Usually I
don’t have much idea whenever it comes to ramen dining. And I think it won’t go
wrong by heeding the chef recommended menu, which is the Mukashi Special Ramen
:D Indeed, the soup base is so enriched with the sweetness of pork but not to
the intense extent that comes with strong porky smell. I personally find it
very appetizing as the sweetness is further enhanced with the addition on
seaweed. Ramen is springy and delightfully flooded in the nice broth. Also
accompanying are crunchy bamboo shoots, shredded black fungus, slices of
succulent pork meat, my favorite Ajitsuke Tamago with loads of fragrant
scallions. I enjoy it best when added with more white sesame that is available
as one of the relishes on the table, and also some chilli oil that comes with a
tinge of sesame oil aroma too. You can even go along with some pickled pink
julienned gingers that are brought in from Japan too. Ooishi!!
Spicy
Tobanjan Ramen (Korean Chilli Paste)
Coming up
next is the Spicy Tobanjan Ramen. Basically, it is having the same soup base as
the other normal ramen soup, just that this variety is being added with some Tobanjan
paste, which is a type of spicy mixture made of Korean chillies. Called it a
marriage between Japanese and Korean ramen? ^_^ This spice actually helps to
enhance the flavor of the Kyusu ramen soup without overpowering its natural
sweetness of the pork bone. The best part is, it isn’t too spicy at all! :D
Yamagoya
Ramen
For someone
who prefer to enjoy the authentic ramen in the simplest way, then getting a
bowl of Yamagoya Ramen would be a good choice. Similarly, the ramen is prepared
with the same soup base but distinct itself with the various toppings that come
along with it, except the seaweed and the ever-drooling braised eggs.Anyway,
you could still call for the sides as ala carte, for the golden egg yolk is so
tempting! Well, I must admit that the same fare by Santouka Ramen is much more
gooey and silky as compared to here where the egg seems to be slightly over
boiled. Nevertheless, I still find it a pretty enjoyable treat for we shouldn’t
seek for perfection all the time. Just like the saying goes, “There is always
rooms for improvement right”? Gambateh!
Before heading back, it's best to have some warm green tea to wash down the throat, and also....the fats as well! Haha....
Cheers folks!
